Is this assignment legal?
On LC until 1pm when they have me on SC. I was assigned a trip with a 1430 report at 830am. Isn't this basically getting around the 12 hr call out requirement?
On top of that it's a out of base trip that they could have covered with in base reserves.

Umm, SC is exactly for covering things < 12hrs.
You 100% sure that when the trip became uncovered it could have been covered by their base LC?
As for you, don’t acknowledge (or answer the phone) until 1301…start the SC. If they call and ask “how long” never give them an exact time…tell them you will be there as fast and as safely as you can…if it takes you the full 2’ish hours to get there, so be it.

Yeah, I'd play that game if I lived in base. Unfortunately I don't. I still think it's not right to take a trip and not run it through the original base's coverage ladder and instead build a out of base trip with it. It should have been available to go out as a greenslip

I guess this serves as a lesson for everyone that decided to throw in an upgrade bid and take the money... reserve isn't that bad. Sometimes it is. Especially if you don't live in base.

Also, out of base short call goes ahead of green slip in the coverage sequence.

Quick question with probably a quick answer:
A friend of mine has a short call reserve start time at 9AM. Friend has a 3 hour driving commute to domicile (ignore traffic factors for this hypothetical.) Would it be reasonable for friend to start the drive to work at 8AM, to effectively be within 2-ish hours at 9AM?
TIA
