Yeah.. Because me and one of the guys who are junior/should have gotten trip have the EXACT days off, to include golden days.

It appears just to be random "where they put your 30h rest"

I feel like they’re playing Calvinball.

I’ve been on both the punishment and benefit side of the equation.

I never really considered golden days before but I think the trick going forward is going to be to put them all on the first off day of a block following an LC stretch if I can.

Haven't figured it out yet, but you're definitely going to have to try and get those golden days on as many of your 1st day of x days as possible.

Maybe more 3 on/1 off/3 on type of pattern to force the 30hr rests onto your schedule.

LC on/1 off/LC on comes with it's own gremlins, such as post-release schedule checks (or straight-up LC assignments) on the last LC day for assignments on the first LC day after the X day, integrating your X-day into the 30 hours of rest between them. Second day coverage allows this.

Wait, I just re-read your post. Are you suggesting a strategy that tries to maximize the use of X-days as 30-hour resets? That sounds like a terrible idea if so. Doing this would maximize your LC availability.

If your answer is "yes, to maximize pre-posted rest", I'm not sure you've seen the plethora of posts (including my own experiences) that they CAN AND WILL remove pre-posted rest at their leisure.

I've personally been on all sides of this. I've been assigned a trip when junior had rest and I didn't. I've been skipped and the trip went to senior because of my rest. And I've been junior with the rest while senior didn't, and they removed my rest and assigned me the trip. There's no silver bullet here for pilots, scheduling has full control of what used to be RUO with this ****.

Can anyone chime in on what my line should be this month so I can figure out how to bid. I'm on the 71 which has an ALV of 84:00 next month and a RSV of 80:00. I'm set to go to training for the 320 on 5/10. PBS is already showing 70:55 for the month from 5/10 to 6/1. I also have PTP starting on 5/8 (I'm assuming the 48 hours before you can ask for). Will I be expected to have 2 on call days to roughly get to the 80 hours if RSV? Should I bid a line and hope I'm not awarded any trips since I'm already crediting 70:55?

Also where can I find out more about my training schedule? Or do I have to wait until this bid posts? I didn't realize you bid time slots when you do the AE, so I want to know how screwed am I?

I seem to get whacked more than helped. Not that it hasn't gone my way, but it seems about 70/30 against/for with it.

For those who are wondering, me and Extenda are basically identical seniority. (I'm senior by a few dudes in the category to him) and we have similar bidding habits. It just shows how bloody random this can be, and the RUO is basically "less of a rule, more of a guide"

The LCW starts at 74:00, so you can’t bid a line and get no trips. Assuming you can hold a 2 day trip, you could bid for “award pairings if pairings length=2, limit 1”. You’d still work 2 days but get paid 81:25ish.

As for reserve, go to johnfbell.com and use the reserve calculator. It wiil tell you owe 5 days of LC, and the pay would be 91:34.

Your choice…

I was on the calculator. I guess I don't know what line I'm putting training in on, and also how many days 70:55 is equating to figure out the reserve days.
