The biggest change is that for Thanksgiving and Christmas A must be greater than R on a day to day basis. So the 25% of coverage provision obviously cannot apply.

Well that's confusing because APD requires 25% coverage and PD requires 100% coverage. But if what that SC member said is true, then we should have no problem striking out 23.I.10.a exception from the contract.

The reserve required grid is completely in flux during a PCS run. It may show sufficient before and after a run, but during the run, when it got to your bid if it was below the cutoff, that's just the way it works.

I've had APDs hit on the holidays a few times. You can't win if you don't play.

Both can be correct—because the APD will work if over 100%. That can be a tactic for junior pilots to get a designated APD holiday off, since the APDs run before the PDs.

Oh ya, when I was junior I maximized the use of the APDs, IVDs, PDs and swaps to get the days off I wanted. I always set the APD and let it ride. If he's saying that scheduling is only allowing APDs to work if it's 100% over holidays, then I guess his statement makes sense. However, I've seen situations where that wasn't the case because an APD was processed after sitting for weeks, coverage was never close to 100%, but was over 25%. I could be missing a point here, but an absolute statement that if an APD worked, then a PD would work, is confusing to my caveman brain lol.

Based on my reading of the PWA and SRH it looks like APDs are processed first and then P/Ds. Is there some work around to use the P/D first and if that doesn't drop the trip use the APD? Or is the only way to do that to wait until the next PCS run and change it to an APD?

TIA
If the grid is blue try the PD. If that doesn't work, then APD the second run. I have never not gotten an APD on run 2. Don't wait until days later though. Reading your further reply, and holiday periods are different. There's too much competition. Use the most powerful tool first. IVD or APD (but use them all, it can't hurt and may not help either, but why not?)

The question I have is, if you're crew scheduling, why would you ever suddenly permit an APD if coverage is not above 100% if you don't have to?

Just curious: any etiquette rules or norms about looking at people’s schedules? As a perma reserve bidder I track trip coverage in my category very closely so anytime someone picks up a trip in an unusual way I check their schedule largely out of curiosity and to possibly discern unique/clever bidding/pickup strategies. I know it pings on icrew that I looked at it. I have no issues with anyone should they want to look at my (boring) schedule.

thoughts?

No issues. The reason why it tells you who looks at your schedule is a result of pilots harassing other pilots for picking up green slips while we had pilots out on involuntary furlough.
