As far as I know, only one batch has gone out so far. I have a buddy who got one with 40 hours of lookback.

Every letter I've seen has the same date on it. "Sent from ATL" but post marked from SLC and held shut with tape lol

But did you always have to plan your commute accordingly, and have a 2 hour + backup flight? Shoot.

Just spit balling here trying to wrap my head around this action, are the pilots receiving the letters also commuters?

My buddy is and he said he had about 100hours of look back.

Are they even really allowed fully back into the union ranks as a line pilot later, or once you’re in the management bed there you stay?
JH is a permanent low-level 4th floor fixture anyway. He’ll step aside from this position in the relatively near future, then get siloed away in some other made up position.

He’s the perfect example of what you get when you rely on small town Georgia cronyism to run a Fortune 100 corporation.

Even they are wrong and we hate them, the GFB and letters are very effective for mgmt. They definitely make a lot of pilots think twice about calling in sick above the 50 hr GFB trigger even if they are sick. The letters will probably be even more effective for mgmt. As a pilot, I say ignore them and if you are sick do NOT fly.

They do? It takes 5 minutes to tell a telehealth doctor that I’m sick. Then I have to be extra careful to ensure that I’m 100% well before calling in well.

Getting a letter like this in the mail is just a trophy. It’s also a source of entertainment for my UA and AA friends, who have never seen anything like this.

I know two PTC locals who got the letter.

It's my understanding that there is no trigger for a GFB. That is a company option regardless of your lookback.

Ok, thanks 👍

I was working a theory. But if non commuters are getting it that kinda nukes my theory.

Appreciate the info

No GFB if you stay below 50 hours in the previous year (corrected thanks to Viper).
