Your reading comprehension is extremely poor.

New contract is 72/yr, but thanks for being the SME on United once again. What years did you work there? We also have an extended sick bank in the new contract with hundreds more hours.

Maybe it's time to stop looking down your nose at UA and AA. I really can't believe y'all can't non rev/ JS while sick? Hope your doctor/ specialist is in driving distance? What if you're out on state kin care leave and need to travel to provide said care for your kin? Or is DL still suing to avoid compliance with those laws?

Sorry to hear about the crappy culture. Stand strong over there. Logging back out ...

Ex-employees have a fantastic sick leave system? Please tell us how that works.

You are correct. I looked at the old contract. UAL gets 6 hours of accrual per bid period. We can non rev while sick. Did it more than once. You do however need permission. Never denied once in 35 years.

Flew with an FO who broke his collar bone. Was denied permission to non rev to visit family. Had to buy a ticket. Your perspective from yesteryear is irrelevant.

Overly harsh. Not defending, but I'll simply repeat that Sailing comes from a different era. He and the rest on his email chain all come from the same point of view, and the few youtes beholden to their way simply because they are enamored by it.

Delta from his era depended on the "bro code", as the kids call it these days. I've heard all the phrases from cappys in his group: "git-er-done", "don't be a slacker", "we don't file grievances", "move to base", "don't rock the boat", "pull your weight", "so-n-so in flight ops is a 'good dude'", "didja get a greenie?", "don't care 'bout that, what's the pay rate?", "food? grab something out of the basket!".

Every single thing at this company that is messed up is because of that line of thinking. IT, scheduling, training, crew meals, dead heading....don't complain, put your head down, and "git-er-done". Look how much effort in the last contract that had to be done to unwind that way of thinking.

Honestly, a career of these people was exhausting. When the northies showed up, they were wired tight, but after a year spent up in MSP, I figured out why they complained. It wasn't because they thought they did things better, it was because they had come to expect consistency, good or bad.

Everything now is almost exactly the opposite.

And we would lose a great benefit and value. Never.

I've been here since Jan 2014. So 12 years.
if we accrued 6 hours per month I would have accrued 864 hours since I've started at Delta.

If I averaged 50 hours of sick leave usage a year I'd still have 264 in the bank.

I have 23 years left till I'm 65. If I continue to accumulate 22 hours a year (72-50 usage) I would retire with close to 800 hours. Isn't that what Delta is trying to prevent? Cutting a check for 800 hours at the top end rate when we retire?

Using today's top rate that would close to $400k.

isn't that what the NWA guys were mad about when the merger occurred?

He didn’t advocate or tell us what to do. He just said why he thought United or American didn’t have the issues that we do with management. I think he’s right.

270 hrs of sick leave (worth almost 4 months) is an incredible benefit. In the end the company has no control over how much we use except for a few speed bumps they throw up to try and discourage it. As stupid as it is, this is just another one of those speed bumps.

if you’re sick, call out sick. If the company asks for a note, get a note. Beyond that, WFCs, save the faux outrage for politics.
