Anybody else read the letter in today's USA Today from an American pilot? Money section 5B.

Istanbul service resumption moved ahead 1 month. Now starts in late April instead of May 2013...

Completely unrelated to likely LH and THY merger ;-)

VS now will likely join SkyTeam...

In December, I have 1 week of vacation and 2 days of recurrent. How many off days will I have if I bid reserve?

Or, asked another way, does recurrent training count as off days, or work days while on reserve?

Thanks in advance.

Many of the people who you say are blind drunk on Widget-aid are actually doing union work. When you say "our ability to do better", can I assume that you're doing something to improve our condition, or do you just throw stones from the sidelines?

You'll get 10 or 11 days off, depending on your category's ALV. The chart is in 12.n.2.a or .b depending on the ALV. The days of recurrent count as work days now.

R1, I had this exact scenario in Oct. Count your CQ days as Reserve days of availability. In a 31 day bid period you will use the 24 days of availability column. So since the M88 ALV for Dec is 74 hours it looks like at minimum you will get 11 X days. If you're category is projecting at least 20% reserves, then you'll receive 12 X days.

CQ no longer reduces your days off on reserve (it used to). As johnso said it is considered "available."

Your vacation time will reduce your number of days off. There is a table in the front of the bid packet (pbs bid site as well??) to show you the reduced amount.
