I know this comes up from time to time, but I'm no expert. I have a trip coming up that ends with a deadhead. How do I get positive space home?

Stroll past the Gate Agent while casually flipping your ID, walk down to the jet and plop into 1C. Leave your bags in the aisle for the A line to put in her closet. Demand a cocktail in a command voice if not in uniform and light a Cuban ... use your demeanor to dare anyone to say anything ...

Assuming you mean deviate to "home" other than base?

For back end deviations:

iCrew>>NSRA Travel>>Jumpseat Deadhead>>Positive Space DH for Back-End Deviations

Please Note:
(1) To use this function, you must have deadhead segment(s) at the back-end of your rotation (2) You must be signed-in/checked-in for your rotation. (Exception: If you are also deviating on the front-end of your rotation, you may use this function anytime after your original rotation's report time.) (3) This function can only to book one set of tickets per rotation. Therefore, once you successfully book positive space in iCrew, you will need to call Scheduling if you need to make any changes.

For the DH scheduled on your rotation (and once you have completed the above steps if deviating):

Travelnet>>Crew Travel>>

Then you can get your confirmation number and go to the Delta.com site and play like you are a Gold Mediallion miler .. swap seats .. check in .. list for upgrade .. etc ... .

Although I think it supposed to be an automatic process with you listed for the seat priorities and upgrade opportunities as allowed in our PWA. I don't really trust Agents ... so I ensure I get the best seat for what I'm doing and am on the upgrade list.

You can go onto Travel Net right now, and book it yourself.

I ass-u-me you are talking about devitating? As long as it's on a mainline jet, you just book yourself in Travel Net under the Crew Travel drop down box, use Company Business. It will show you how many seats are available to you on the flight you specify, as long as there are seats in coach, you can book one, and as soon as you book it, it will assign you a seat number, which then you can cange to an Economy Comfort seat, if there are any open.

Your not supposed to book back end travel via travelnet. The procedure posted above is the correct one using Icrew.

Hmm...I've got Airbus CQ in my early month in Dec, and then projected for MD-88 training in Jan. I assume the training dept would want to just cancel the CQ to free up assets, but what will that do to My Dec schedule? Pick up extra reserve days to make up the diff or something?

I know, call and aks'em tomorrow...

iCrew is the correct way to do a back end deviation- it takes care of everything right there (e.g. cancelling your hotel, seating preference (ha!), and updates your rotation.

Back end deviation isn't just for deviating to someplace other than base- I use it all the time to take an earlier flight home to Mecca.
