Regardless of the reasons, or rationalizations, many guys were (legally) flying GS while people were on furlough. That's not even close to being morally justifiable. It's something I think we need to tighten up in future contracts.

All of the A's are out via the backdoor method (back in the day Jesse would post a picture) except for ATLM88A, DTW7ERA, NYC320A, NYCM88A.

You want to do something about that, then you also have to make IAs pay straight pay too. I'll get on board with that, but otherwise not even closely interested. And morality has nothing to do with it, unless you are referring to forcing a pilot to forego his contractual rights to chase windmills as being moral.
Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure it fits the definition of immoral to pig out on GS while guys are on the street. Out of principle, many didn't, and I commend them for it. |

Interesting point you and Sailing raise about IA's. Offhand, I don't have a solution. You can't reward the company by flying IA's THEY create, at straight pay. And premium flying probably shouldn't go in reverse seniority order at that point. You'd have to attack the problem some other way, i.e. forbid both GS and IA's, or do something like a cap.

I agree with you in principle, but I think it better meets the definition of amoral rather than immoral...Causality being the lynchpin. |
