Guess what those black things on the leading edge are. Engine anti-ice Whenever the engines are running and the visibility is less than 1,000 metres with a temperature with is below +3C the engine anti-ice must be switched on: hot air is bled from the HP engine compressor delivery and ducted round the five entry-guide-vanes and engine nose bullet.[/COLOR] Airframe anti-ice The four engine air-intake leading edges, rear ramp leading edges, spill doors and wing leading edges from the front of the intakes to the wing roots are all heated electrically on Concorde. So my guess is electrically heating elements? |

I'm sitting in CVG waiting to deadhead back to ATL, and I have two observations:
1) It's a beautiful new airport. 2) It's a beautiful new EMPTY airport. I wonder what the losses are that the airport has experienced with the reduction in traffic leaving 2-3 concourses empty. What a contrast to ATL where you can't walk two feet without bumping into someone. |

Our merger was a disaster at the same point in time. We had huge operational problems and were last in on time performance in 2010. I suspect in 2 more years they will be doing just fine.

Their operation is running far worse, though. |

Missed my point as usual... Look at the amount of vacancies and movement going on there compared to our massive displacements at the same point in the merger continuing to now. The pilots aren't "feeling the synergy" like we did and continue to.

In addition to the previous comments, doesn't UCAL have an LOA, (LOA 26, I think?) that places all of the 1436 furloughees on the bottom of the 2008 L-CAL new-hires?
A "messy" SIL is an understatement of what theirs is going to look like. :( GJ |
As others have said, the UAL-CAL seniority integration will be ugly.
When I think about the disparities and relative demographics in their respective seniority lists I can't see an integration methodology that won't leave quite a few really pi**ed off pilots. My perception is there are some former NWA pilots that are somewhat bitter, but the vast (word chosen for Sailing!) majority have moved on. But I will confess I certainly didn't foresee the screwing that AirTran pilots got. |

Question; On this one great travel pass award, can you upgrade to economy comfort? Like pay the difference?
I've been toying with travelnet tonight and I was thinking my wife and I should go to CDG sometime. Not soon. But I looked for May and we could go in May on DAL. There were seats still available according to the one great travel function. Use caution when going to CDG. Below excerpt is taken from the FAQ's section of TravelNet. Q7. Can I upgrade to first class when traveling on One Great Team passes? A7. One Great Team passes are valid for confirmed economy-class travel. Effective, December 15, 2011, travelers age 6 and older will be eligible for a space-available (standby) upgrade (excluding flights departing from Amsterdam, Mumbai and Paris). Good luck, GJ |
I got to do 4, count'm, 4, Gate P/A's last night!
Good thing I had my Gate PA Flow Chart! Whoo Hoo! And that was only doing one every 30 minutes, not every 15, on what eventually turned out to be a 7 hour MX delay!! Our 9:15pm flight didn't depart until about 4:15am! We walked away from the mess when we timed out at 11:15pm. Luckily by then the crowd had thinned out, the free meal vouchers had them at the food court, while we escaped unscathed. The thing had been flying around with an MCO for 3 days, yet nobody ordered the required part. The MCO 'timed out' last night, so they finally decided fix it, only because they HAD TO, right there, in our smallest non-MX base; ATL. And the part was in NRT! BRILLIANT! The good news is, I went home and got paid, the extra good news is, some reserve guy is going to (finally) get a Landing! It's Win Win! Oh, and the prices went up at the Comfort Inn on VA. Ave, it's now $56.35 out the door, up from $46. But, it was Ladies Night in the club! I felt like Slim Shady when I walked in, it looked a lot like this: Sing it with me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkI2RPJhku0 "There she goes, Shakin' that asz on the floe, bumpin' and grindin' that pole..." |
