True dat..........I figure a Delta PHX base will happen about the same time as the cruise ship terminal:D

Opps, time to turn off the 24 hour news channels :o

Ha. With the luck that Carnival cruise ship is having, I'd say there is a 50/50 chance that thing might wind up parked in your driveway tomorrow morning. :D

Any word on the SD dog and pony show in the ATL lounge today?

I've been kind of watching that situation unfold...

Let's see: You get stuck on an airplane for one minute more than three hours and the airline can be fined up to $27,000 per passenger.

But you get stuck on a cruise ship for several days with no power, no place to take a dump and limited food and a "sorry folks" is good enough?

I'm raising the bullsh*t flag!

Where's LaHood? Where's Kate Hanni? Where's the outrage?

Is it no surprise the ship is going to Mobile in the middle of the night?

I agree, DAL and RA will not buy another airline to just grow. It is far cheaper (especially the way DL seems to get AC) to work a deal with Boeing or Airbus get a bunch of used or (like the 100 73NG"s from Boeing) Airbus' that are still being made but nobody wants while waiting for the Neos'. Why buy the problems of an integration unless it offers a lot of plus. HAL just in route authorities is better than AS. Spirit, Virgin and JB are just narrow body feed that can be replicated by growing from within..... without the BS of integration. Airbus' are too cheap to buy used. Why buy employee problems that come with it..

Now if we could just take the female FA's from Virgin and JB we would be golden!!

Are there female FA's at JB? I never see grannies or grandes but the third is well represented at JB.

Can someone post a route map of HA. It's pretty interesting. Lots of Japan to include one HND route. I think 3 destinations in Australia and Auckland. Airlineroute.net also has us pulling back more of our summer Europe flying out of ATL.

They have just started additional AUS flying and Aukland doesn't even start till next month I believe. Nothing magical about these routes, Delta could start tomorrow if there was a treasure chest of money to be made.

HAL is focused like a laser on pleasure travelers coming to Hawaii for vacation. Most Hawaiians (especially the govt) would rightfully fear that Delta merger would mean a "rationalization" of the aircraft to higher profit routes, probably even bypassing Hawaii altogether. I can tell you after living in Hawaii for nearly a decade, the government and populace of Hawaii would probably lobby/regulate hard against a merger without huge concessions to the state and promises which would make the deal probably unpalatable to mgmt.
HAL is one of the largest (if not the largest) NON-Government employers in Hawaii. To have that Ohana business removed from the landscape after the failure of Aloha would be considered devastating to the local populace. Obviously people would still fly, but HAL's limited success would be more difficult to replicate with an off island airline in control.
Aloha,

Northerners... I saw a trip next week in open time with 32 hours or so in PWM. Is it like a good time to explore PWM or should I ignore that one?

The highest temperature forecast for the next ten days is 39. Nice town though.

Per the B717 Fleet page the B717 will have its own initial course. Of course, it's only for those not coming from the M88/90.

Still gonna be a 2 year lock for the 88 guys who only go through the differences course though. Ridiculous.
