They are pigs. The winglets are supposed to help but even the A320 struggles in the winter on transcontinental ops. JetBlue made national news for selling nonstops that were constantly making fuel stops a few years back. Neither the 737-900Er or the a321 work in all markets as a 757 replacement. That is why Delta plans on keeping a significant number of 757's in service into 2024.

The new build ones have a higher mtow, more fuel capacity, and more powerful engines. Even without winglets they have no issues doing transcons.

Per the 2012 annual investors day presentation the mainline fleet will grow by 70+ airplanes over the next several years.

130 new hulls, please...

Why don't you tell us what you think the fleet plan will be. The orders are well known as well as the RFP's. tell us what you think the retirements will be over the next 4 years.

This is a littls delayed but did anyone happen to see the B-29 flying over the north Atlanta area last week. Was really cool to see. It came over just a few thousand feet a

If Delta purchase 40 additional airframes via the two new RFP's we will put into service over 240 airframes in the next 4 years. We also hold options for 30 more 737's. the fleet plan has us parking 85 757's in that period. There will be some A320's parked in Addition to the 757's however the net gain in airframes should be around 130 hulls. That number includes the 90's not yet in service.

Thanks Sailing for the info, but dont you know that facts aren't nearly as entertaining as rumors and speculation?

Question what is the baseline by which we measure something as growth?
