I see the senior 777 guys bidding the 2 day, 10hr. trips only to swap them for 32 hr. Joburg trips. Do that twice and you've just picked up an additional 44 hours!
You wonder why they keep displacing guys out and shrinking the category? That's why. How about we bring back a true Hard Cap, pick a number, 82, 85? What ever, but let there be no way to go above it, or if you do, via reroute or IA, the time over the cap goes into a bow wave for your next month's credit. In other words, go back to what we used to have, 20 years ago... SWAPA lobbied very hard to increase the 12 month rule to 1200 hours of block. Thankfully for the flying profession ALPA prevailed and 1000 hours remains the max. |

Actually just the opposite. There were viable options for getting rid if the airframes and not moving the flying to the mainline.
Has management ever asked for more than 78 seats? Understood, if you favor these questions with a reply, that it is unofficial rumor of something that might have happened, or not. Kind of like Nixon saying "I don't think we still do that sort, I mean, have ever assassinated a foreign leader." |

In the end however you can't exceed 1000 hours of block time. Next Jan the new rules will limit all pilots to 100 hours every 28 days. The problem will be fixed. GS's will go much further down the list. The companies surge capability will be much more limited. I think they underestimate the impact it will have in IROPS.
It won't be fixed. You can't make a blanket statement like that. Many guys are getting a two leg white slip that pays 10 hours+. You can do lots of those before timing out. 50 hours of flying with 130 credit hours is easy to do. |

Is there any evidence your politics matters to the IRS? I'm sure some would say they don't agree with my politics so that could be justified.
As for the IRS, so they were 1/2 right. Now they just need to deny the misuse of the exemption for the other half. Tired of my days at the park and playoff seasons funded by attack ads. You do know that currently the international rule is 120 hours in 30 right? |

The SWA guys think we make this crap up. Going into DTW 2 days ago it was rainy with low ceilings, visibility was decent. CLE center advises us that they are starting to hold on the next frequency. We switch over and get assigned a hold at Polar for 20-25 min for volume/wx. SWA checks in a few minutes behind and gets told to set up for holding. They immediately reply "we only have gas for 1/2 a turn then we have to go to our alternate." CLE centers unbelievably says "ok we'll see what we can do to get you right in". A few minutes later they are the cleared to DTW via the arrival. Absolute horse s*#t!! They never declared min fuel or a fuel emergency. Multiple airplanes were holding in the stack ahead of them.
Since when does the government (faa) favor an airline or a flight that didn't plan properly? Have your dispatch put on enough fuel or go to your alternate!! Every plane in the stack waited longer and burned more fuel, we even had to hold past our efc so SWA didn't have to divert..... |

Sailing, I am familiar with the 120 hours international. Did you know that one of our 121 commuters has an exemption that allows them to fly 120 hours a month as well? Four day trips with 8 leg days and 120 hours a month kicked my butt!!!!
Has anyone shipped their stuff overseas thru Delta Cargo? I know the website says no international with a discount but I had to ask... Looking to ship a box and a suitcase to Hong Kong. FedEx discount will cost $300 for both. Just looking at other alternatives. Thanks, Hoserpilot |

I don't think those data streams are supposed to cross, but, you've gone into a part of the contract I've only read once. I don't think Delta can boot us. Some of our medical plan choices are contractual, aren't they?
