The general consensus is that after 6 months on the 330, you are perfectly comfortable.

The 777LR or 300 are pretty amazing machines. The LR can connect any two cities on the planet, carry all the people and all the cargo. The -300 has (I think) two more pallet positions than the pax configured 747-400, longer range and comparable pax with two engine economics.

They are different missions and both do their design mission well. In the case of the LR, extremely well.

Thanks for the info. Interesting stuff!

Two positive threads.

First talk about more hiring than originally planned. Second talk of the WB order being announced with an interim order of 10 777's and 30 737-900's OR 10 330's and 30 321's (no split order.) Waiting for BOD approval. Should be announced by the end of August (tomorrow?)

As always - Good news tomorrow :)

Can we go with 777s and 321s please? :) I can't believe we'd buy even more anemic 737-900s. That plane makes the 321 look like a rocket.

That being said, the 777 is top of the payscale and unlimited in deployment capability. It depends on what they need the aircraft to do and if they need that much aircraft (it costs more and is heavier/burns more fuel than the 330.

In my case, I'd rather have more 777s, but I have nothing against the airbus.

777 - more pay, more resultant uphill throughout the whole list, and until the company figures a way to put a couple biz class lie flats in the crew rest area it's in no danger of losing the class 1 crew rest facility

From a layover perspective definitely the 330 :)

Hmm - I think that DPA hadn't gotten much wind in their sails by mid of 2012, when the TA came out and the voting was taking place. So I don't think it weakened C2012. I think now a lot more people know about DPA. Also, in 2012 DPA was running a mostly gentlemanly campaign to change the bargaining agent. I think that now that DPA has run off the rails and is just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. The turning point for me personally was TC's comparison of Chinese forced abortions to ALPA. Do we really want people who think that's an appropriate way to discuss matters among professional pilots, Wall Street, on Capitol Hill and the company?

ALPA may be slow to change, but I'm not worried about what they are going to decision makers that affect our careers.

I do wish to get this resolved before C2015. I am for an election sooner rather than later.

I just think that DPA will divert some attention from the real issue come 2015 - namely a better contract. If ALPA and DPA are continuing to argue about representation, people might just tune out and not pay attention to any of C2015 - just when we need the most participation and unity.

Which long haul aircraft will be configured with real pilot rest areas versus business rest seats? Non revved on a 330 in Biz a few weeks ago and spent 1/2 the flight in front of a screaming 5 year old.

I told TC directly that the abortion comment was highly inappropriate and turned me off directly. He agreed, apologized again, and called it an emotional outburst in a very intense and exhausting time.

As C2015 approaches, I would like the focus to be just that.

Exactly!!!
It's reassuring to see other people feel the same way.

Man, Clamp, you have some serious 73 issues. You must have had some bad experiences. The former Bus CAs I fly with love the 73. Plus, they can see the screens in daylight.

I've voiced some hate on the 737. But I think that's mainly because it's the replacement for the 757. :( And I'm more angry at Boeing then the 737. The avionics are really nice. And with a nice headset, I think the noise isn't an issue. I've sat jump in several of ours lately, and it's kind of growing on me. But it can never be a 757. :(
