Programming an aircraft to effectively recover itself has even been discussed at a “philosophical level,” though Boeing’s mantra remains to leave the pilot in charge, he said.

Note that is not air buses mantra.

You're right, the trips are good and hopefully will get better with 10 more coming on line the next three years (plus the 7 A340-600s. :D)

That said, the best description I've heard is that a Boeing is an airplane with a computer while an Airbus is a computer with wings. Still, I enjoy using a joystick and not having some big thing between my legs.

No wait. That's not what I meant!!!!

When I was a 727B instructor the highest pay I could get was L10B pay. The good deal is you never worry about working holidays and you could swap with other instructors. You could also do additional seat fillers for 5 hours each.

According to Section 11 C.13. a Captain SLI is paid at the applicable composite hourly rate in the highest paying position he can hold. A First Officer SLI is paid at the applicable composite hourly
rate in the highest paying First Officer position he can hold.

Basically, a 777 FO is still going to get 777 FO rates if he is an SLI. Captain's are no longer capped at 765A rates. I would talk to a current SLI to ascertain the "is it worth it" part of the equation. They know the good and the bad currently in play.

That helps quite a bit. Thank you.

While PD and I tend to, let's say "disagree*" on most issues:D.... I respect his right to anonymity.

*telling mesabah to zip it in the adults discussion a clear point of agreement

Interesting. The thing I like least about APC is the anonymity. I stand behind what I say on the boards and would say the same to anyone's face. To be honest, I think the anonymous bit is, to be blunt, cowardly.

That said, that's the rule of the game here and I try to play by the rules (most of the time.)

Depends how long you were gone....

I agree that you should be the same person online as in real life, and I am... but the board is anonymous, I respect that.

Back to the serious topics...

Did anyone else notice the comments by crew planning that they will likely be liquidating vacations for pilots going through training on this bid because they are so tight on getting training completed.

That isn't ideal.. so add that to the list of changes needed for C2015.

Honestly though, it is a good problem to have!
