I don't think Ryanair operates A319's. They fly 737's. Now, Easyjet does fly A319's.

Basically we made a deal with OPEC (SA in particular) a long time ago to launder our spending through the ME. Oil drives the golbal economy like nothing else. They have lots of easy oil and part of the agreement was they only take US dollars. That has allowed us generations of afterburner level debt based spending because we have always been able to monetize essentially unlimited amounts of debt. We can print like crazy and there has always been a place for it. The world buys lots of oil through them, they only take dollars, and that lets us print/spend like there's no tomorrow.

In exchange, we've never fully allowed ourselves to become energy independent like we easily could be, and we've launched several huge wars to protect that particular arrangement. And not just corrupt fantasy government pet program subsidies like Solyndra and "green energy" but oil, foreign oil, specifically is protected, because it helps us launder dollars and debt. We have a lot of oil, and so do the Canadians, Brazilians and others. From ANWAR to the roadblocks to the pipeline, we are doing everything we can to keep the MErats in power to protect that arrangement. We also babysit their region with a regional military presence most nations don't even have in total, and we borrow from them, with interest, to do it.

Boeing benefits mightily from that. They skim the cream from the "Defense" side of things, obviously, and they're raking it in with the dual subsidized never ending widebody orders as that region bribes us with our own money by using our over inflated petro dollars as leverage against us.

Saddam threatened to get off the dollar for oil and we took him out, supposedly to defend our fake royal "allies". Qadaffi did the same thing and we took him out too. Now Russia has been working agressively with the BRIC and other nations to create a currency basket that may or may not include the dollar, but even if it does it will be significantly reduced, and look at all the sabers rattling over the Ukraine thing, which was actually not as bad as what they did to Georgia years ago but we didn't care back then because there was no risk to interrupting our spending addiction.

He didn't do that with the 737 order. All 100 are for 737-900ER's. We have no orders for the 737 MAX.
