I have training which requires me to travel and a reserve day the next day. What's the worst they can do to me for a show/short-call that next day?

How is the company currently conducting probation checks?
Are they scheduling a turn with an LCA in the left seat, and the probie in the right? If so, adding an FO to the jumpseat is a net gain.
However, if they're currently putting an LCA in the jumpseat, this is a loss.
Either way, it's a(nother) status quo violation. When are we going to see some backbone from "our" "union?"

I don't think saving some bucks at the expense of the unionized pilots as part of an anti labor mindset was an issue.

Bro, I know you're a company man and/or Moak disciple, but this is not a "checklist change."
I just want to see a little fire in the new chairman's belly. Let's see something--a sentence, a hint!--that there are some status quo issues in play right now.
Oh, and get rid of the Moak guys running contract admin.

I just went through the school house on the 717 and the guy giving me my line check explained that currently when a probie pilot gets his 6 month check it's by an LCA in the jumpseat and the Captain gets a linecheck at the same time. The problem is that with certain categories, ie NYC, there are so many new hires that Captains are getting line checks too often because of the 6 month check. This will eliminate that. Take it for what it's worth.
The company has the right to run the operation, including making changes to procedures, without every conceivable checklist change being labeled a status quo violation. Don't become the Boy who Cried Wolf. I suspect this is just Flight Standards changing procedures for reasons deemed important to them and ultimately for the betterment of the airline.

This lowers the number of line check airmen required and it has a financial impact.
Suddenly allowing first officers to perform work that previously required a captain is pretty clearly a change in our working conditions.
Changes to our working conditions during Section 6 are prohibited by the Railway Labor Act.

Within a month if not sooner these posts will be long forgotten (next to the check box for GS award while flying LOA), to be replaced by another "crisis."
JM is doing a good job managing 100 different things to get us the contract we deserve. Let's let him continue.
