So for my April bid I got a Redeye, which I said to avoid when I was bidding. Reason reports just said "not honored". The trip awarded was on 3-4 April. I look in open time and there's a trip on 3-4 April that is also 2 day trip that isn't a redeye. There's nothing on the front or back end of it that would impact me not getting the other one vs the redeye.

Why would it give me a redeye and not that other trip? PCS hasn't run yet for April, so that trip should have been available for me to get.

Any thoughts?

Any chance that trip in open time starts with a 0? Maybe they broke up a carryout trip and the 2 day in open time on the 3rd wasn't part of the bid package. Just a guess.

How much was the red eye rotation worth as opposed to the one in open time? The red-eye may have put you into/kept you in the LCW while the open time rotation might not have. Also, do you have any rotations on either side that the open time trip might have created an FAR conflict with? Just a couple of possibilities.

FYI, the company cannot break up a trip like that at this point.

While it is not uncommon for the company to modify a carry-out trip (e.g., March into April), that modification has to be done before the bid packages are released so that you are given accurate credit for the April carry-in portion for PBS bidding purposes.

There are a variety of reasons a trip could already show up in open time that was awarded to a senior bidder. PBS takes a snapshot on the 11th at 6pm. Any changes after 1800 on the 11th to a pilots status including mil leave, planned sick, training, company business, ALPA business or a CP grant of days off would allow for the award of a trip via PBS. It would not be a shadow award since PBS does not know of a pilots status change. It functions only off the snapshot. When the award is loaded into DBMS the trip would then be immediately dropped into the open time. Easy way to check is look for the trip and see if it was awarded to a senior bidder in the PBS run. You might also check if you were low time and the trip was awarded to a low time CA.
If it was not you can plug the trip into your schedule via the rules auditor on DBMS to see if you were FAR legal for the trip. If so file a request for a explanation of why you did not get the trip.

To reply to poster above. The conversion/training dates post by crew rescorces sometimes takes up to two weeks to post. But, you would think with the amount of training needed on this AE it would come out soon to get going.

If the rules auditor says you can drop the redeye and add the trip from open time, you should be able to do so via Swap With the Pot. Since they cover the same footprint, the reserves required wouldn't matter and the swap would go through as long as you're legal for the new trip.
