That theory works if you actually know what you are talking about and they readily admit it. Outside if that, which is usually the reality, a Ken Watts is nice to have in your corner.
In part 1... Yes you are correct. If you know what the issue is, you can probably get it dealt with right then and there. So, my response to that is to know what you are talking about before you call the company. So... first place a call to Curtis at DALPA, who used to work in skeds. HE knows the contract, and also the mindset of the scheduler. Get his take on it, then call skeds. Part 2.. If you are unsuccessful using the method I described above, a good CA guy is good to have, no question. Ken Watts is not the only one out there, and maybe he was good, but the point is moot, he quit. Time to move on. Now... food for thought. If you use the method I described in part 1, and are successful, you will see the $ in your next paycheck. If you insist on punching the company in the face and going down the grievance path at all cost, you might see it in 2-3 months. Time/value of money. I know which I would prefer. But whatever floats your boat.... |

She also said they have a much less technologically advanced system, & still do some scheduling with pencil/paper. No joke, her words exactly. I think they're a little strained right now.

Sorry for the thread creep, but I have a question that I hope some of the South guys can answer:
I was awarded an AE in the Jan. bid. I have not been scheduled for training yet. Was I allowed to be awarded an AE if I could hold it in the last bid? Current status DC9 DTW B AE in JAN M88 MSP B- I bid for to keep pay protection from 747 SO have not been sched. class date yet. was I able to bid for MAY AE? Thanks |

No you have a two year seat lock from the award.
As a back up the best wa to see if you have a freeze is to go on DBMS(I-crew) and check for a freeze. You can see this by trying to put new AE choices it. It will show a freeze there is you have one. |

INAV8OR,
Your question leads me to think of another one having to do with pay protection. What if, in the Jan 2010 AE award, you bid to keep pay protection and are now seat locked for 2 years on equipment still below your original pay protected status. Then, in a subsequent bid, someone junior to you hold your original equipment while you are still frozen. Are you still pay protected because you could not bid back to your original equipment? Just wondering. Denny |
