We vote the way ALPA tells us to. Don't kid yourself. At US Airways, ALPA knew the pilots would not vote away their pension so ALPA didn't let them vote. This lead to ALPA being de-certified. The SLI was a huge part of it, but the pension was just as big of a deal. ALPA is very persuasive when it comes to voting. It almost always gets its groups to vote for tentative agreements.

Ok General Lee. After your last few posts it sounds like Flight Info may be a better fit.

A PM will work for anyone who is not PG. Capn's comments about "never" going to the ALPA site and then calling out anyone "except PG" to PM with factual information leads me to designate him the official: "Latest and Greatest" http://www.mediabistro.com/prnewser/...nal/Douche.jpgOf the Day. It will not be awarded daily, and on occasion I may even have to award it to myself (maybe a few days late after realizing what I had previously posted), but it will always be available as a prize to those who have distinguished themselves. *Disclosure: I have had a few tonight, and if I judge that it was an unfair award, I will follow through and award it to myself. Good night. |
I dont know if this has been discussed or not but it looks like the slot swap is alive and well.

Wow, missed a lot today while doing DTW-DEN-CVG-LGA. :D
I'm always hoping for the slot swap to go through. That's quite a but if extra flying & revenue. More heavy metal would be great too. :) |

So, if the company decides to take more 777's to replace the 787's on order then they would be open for all to bid? Or do the fences on the 787 transfer to the additional 777's. The only reason I bring this up is that NWA went through this with the 330/DC-10.
5. Should the merged company take delivery of any aircraft which is/are a replacement of any aircraft covered by Paragraph 4., the captain positions and, as applicable, the first officer positions on each such replacement aircraft will be allocated in accordance with the Paragraph 4. restrictions on the type it is replacing. Paragraph 4 is the actual fence paragraph of the award on the 777's, 747's, and 787's. As far as replacing 330's with 744's, there is nothing specific in the arbitrated decision that I could see. I'm sure it would go to the arbitrator. I was just giving my opinon and we all know what they are like!!:D Denny |
If the company is smart, they won't mess around with any of the fenced categories until the fences come down. There are what, two/three more years til then?

My interpretation of the SLI conditions and restrictions says the answer to your question is yes the replacement aircraft would be open for all to bid. Here is the applicable item from the conditions and restrictions: 5. I'm sure it would go to the arbitrator. I was just giving my opinon and we all know what they are like!!:D Denny Now if 744s were replacements for 330s you might be right about that they could possibly open to everyone. You are definitely right it would go to the arbitrator. |

I disagree that if the company buys 777s to replace the 787 it will be open to all pilots to bid. The "replacement" aircraft would be "allocated in accordance with the Paragraph 4. restrictions on the type it is replacing." i.e. the new positions would go to northies.
