Wow, good question New. I don't know if we have a maximum early check in. I've seen guys do it several hours prior. I don't commute though. Most of my CA's do and they get in 3-4 hours early on average. Some earlier if they're coming a long way. Maybe ACL knows...he's our sensei.

Thanks Buzz. ACL, must be in study mode. :)

5 hours prior to sign-in.

How many hours before is sign-in? Thought you'd never ask:

1 hour for domestic, 1.5 for international.

You sign-in via e-crew (on the computer in the lounge) or you can do it via phone.

Not sure they always accept the over the phone sign in. They super short called me with 38 minutes to DI. Since I had my stuff with me I called from the shed and asked them to duty me in. I'd then catch the bus to the correct concourse, saving maybe 15 minutes time which would make the difference on getting the flight out on time. Surprisingly they said "no."

Usually Delta scheduling is very pleasant to work with. They seem to realize when you are doing the best you can to try to cover a flight, but not that Sunday. As a junior pilot worried about furlough, no one is more motivated to try to keep the customers happy and the flights on time.

Are we getting new schedulers recently, or has the merge with NWA started? I've heard NWA crews tell stories like this, but it was a first for me at Delta.

The NWA schedulers are typically very pleasant as well. There are a couple we could do without but the majority are great.

Also, more school house rumors to start from DGS guy.

1.) DAL will park a few 744's. Demand not there = less capacity
2.) DAL to sell a few 767-300's(DOM).
3.) Why do the dentures cost so much??

Heyas,

Just to add one more:

4) 8 777's to be dry leased to Turkish Airlines

That's very interesting Bar. I sign in 99.9% of the time over the phone. I've had to wait when they're short, but never been told I couldn't do it. Now, this is talking to the "sign in desk" and not the scheduler.

You probably could have hung up the phone with the scheduler, then called the sign in desk and not have had a problem FWIW.

Here is one for you DAL-N guys, at XJT they used Northwest weather or at least that was my understanding. What I liked was this number assigned to each fix enroute that had the forecasted turbulence there, I think 0 was smooth and 6 was shake the wings off or at least thats what I remember. But it was nice to look through a flight plan real fast and say, bumpy, smooth, smooth then bumpy, etc.

Do you guys have that on your flight plans? Is that a NWA weather thing?

Just talked to a buddy of mine who is friends with a management pilot. There was a meeting with some upper level guys and the company is looking at what to do about the overage of pilot. Apparently, we are over on pilots, flight attendants, mechanics etc.. They are worried about the unions if they furlough. The decision will be made at the end of summer. Lets keep our fingers crossed!!
