I live over in Canton and love it....20 minutes on a bad day to the employee lot. Everything is newer, building lots of new homes, lots of places to eat, parks, gyms, good schools as long as you buy in the Plymouth-Canton school district etc. Plus Plymouth and AA downtowns are really close too. The only thing lacking in my opinion in Canton is a downtown area.

What do you know about the Belville area? I'm starting to look and all options are on the table.

All we need to do is vote "NO".

Talking to my reps (the ones who will vote), it is abundantly clear that scope relaxation is a non-starter, they want the language tightened up and us to be much better protected and positioned going forward.

(Don't start with the "MEC bureaucrats will influence the reps to accept a management friendly deal" junk either... The NC is one of 2 committees that report DIRECTLY to the Reps, and its members are directly elected by those Reps)

And that is why i said I do not believe that the reps would buy this sort of scheme, no matter what the money offer isnn

Not if it allows more rj's off property. Mainline needs to grow anyway and will. Allowing more rj lift to be flown off the list just means there is less growth mainline will be required to do.

I just read an article that said the pollen count set a record in Atlanta. Heads up on the DC-9 and MD-88 (I don't know if this happens on other aircraft)... Every year when the pollen is high in Atlanta, we get a burning smell after takeoff as the pollen is burned up and passes through the packs. I've even had the lav smoke detectors on the 88 go off because of this. They used to put out a bulletin every spring on the 88 about it. Anyway, last trip I smelled it (pretty faint smell) on the DC-9 on just about every takeoff out of ATL. Of course, the pollen count was substantially lower last week than it apparently is right now. Anyway, thought it was worth a heads up to all you new MD-88 and DC-9 drivers.

This has been a public service announcement. :D

I know you didn't ask me, but Belleville is nice if you live on the lake and crappy every where else The schools are subpar, I know a couple teachers that teach at the high school and they have nothing really good to say(they live in Canton). I'd really keep looking west to the Saline/AA area or north to Canton/Plymouth/Northvile/Novi or Livonia areas.

Honestly I would stay away from that area, a little whiskey tango around there. In my opinion the best towns are Ann Arbor, Canton, Plymouth, Novi, Northville, and if you're willing to drive a bit South Lyon, Saline, Brighton....

If you get MD do you get any hotel / per diem for any part of your 1st month at your new base? Also do you get any "moving" days off you can bid to do some relocating & house hunting?

Does anyone know how you are paid for the distance learning CD's for an initial training event?

Either in cash at a drastically reduced rate or with another MD by the time you were supposed to start on the last one.

My wife teaches in Northville, and loves the area. And we both love Plymouth. If we could sell our house it's where we'd be

I believe the contract spells out exactly what your entitled to, including a week free from duty to execute the move (in one month). I don't think it provides per Diem, or days off for house hunting, but I don't have it in front of me to reference. There are higher pass class travel (not positive space) during the house hunt.
