That CVG March 22nd newsletter said an MD-88 or MD-90 will get the ISS panel, dual GPS and dual FMS by the end of the 2012 and that the initiative had been added to CapEx and awaits funding.

Did they cancel funding since Thursday?

Good points, ftb. Would you then (as a Delta pilot) oppose a staple, for the same reasons?

You may have been referring to this post though:

Carl

That was Carl mentioning the obvious. We don't need no stinkin' FMS's in the 88. Which is true. If they want to install them, that's fine. But that doesn't mean she cares what it says.

because the 88 don't care.

watch out! says the 767.

I think if I were at DCI I'd fight any flow. You could apply and get hired on merit right now but with a flow you are at the mercy of a slow system that breeds squatters. I'd rather go to mainline as soon as I could rather than wait for people (who could've applied years ago) to flow.

For an airline, and I know some hate me saying this but I've seen it happen in Coex's flow and am sticking to it, a flow sticks you with people you may not want or have turned down in the past. And I'm not talking about people who may have screwed up a cog test, but people whose personalities are unwanted.

Flows are still on probation.

That is why I said I though he was joking. I did not take the post seriously, but some did.

The 88 thinks it has FMS, but yep, it goes where it wants to....

The (few) real morons that parked themselves at some of the regionals were on probation at that regional as well. They already know how to lay low for a year, before they let their personalities come back out.

Sort of.

From the DCI pilots perspective, a staple means you've got a seniority number and that's a goal. So when I say I'd oppose it as a regional pilot what I mean is if you're pilot 500 of 2000 do you want to wait until 500 pilots flow or would you rather apply and get hired based on the merits of you and your resume? I'd rather apply. But if you're going to staple me, well have at it!

So from that perspective I would definitely not oppose a staple whereas I'd oppose the flow.

From a mainline management perspective you could staple all of Compass and feel fine about it since you hired them in the first place.

But for a regular DCI carrier I wouldn't automatically hire 1500 pilots you've never met? Especially when they'll continue to do flying for UCAL while on your list? I think that's a nonstarter.

I'd say it'd been a nonstarter even at Coex and we had a far closer relationship to mainline in the late 90s and early 2000s. In fact, I had a CAL guy doing the hiring when I interviewed there but that's not the same as how the Compass deal was set up. Compass, sigh, what a blown opportunity.

Right, if Carl said it it must be true....

Finished recurrent 1 month ago, there was a suit in the break room who said the New panel had been approved by the board and funded. All aircraft to be completed in 18-24 months....believe it when we see it!

Ha ha. I've also hear electronic flight bags are right around the corner. Come to think about it, I heard the above when I went through MD-88 training. I was told I would be flying glass 88's within a year. I went through training more than a year ago FWIW. I don't really care about this stuff though. I care about our new contract. That is what is most important to me.

I copied this from the Foreign thread. It was in response to Pprune no longer accepting posts from Etihad (EY) crew. EY has been banned from Pprune.

I thought this post might prove instructive as we begin to get into negotiations.

That was ten months ago. The grooming guide was such a farce that it had to be mocked. The mistake was the author was named on the board and EY used that as an excuse to go after all posters on Pprune. They do not like ANY negative comments posted as it affects recruitment so Internet Brands, the owner of Pprune, was threatened with legal action and they rolled over and divulged the identities of all the posters EY thought had been a thorn in their side.
Nobody was fired, a few were called in for "tea and biscuits" with the chief pilot, warned and made to apologize. The implied threat made all active EY posters be really leery about Pprune so most stopped posting and those who kept on toned down their posts, a good source of information is no longer available. I was a regular poster but only posted factual, or what I though to be factual, information, both pro and con. I also answered many PM's about working here, which all in all is not a bad place. However Pprune is no longer a source for us to exercise due diligence when trying to decide where to work.

Internet Brands also owns APC and there is nothing to stop for e.g. Delta, Fedex, CAL etc from threatening IB with legal action, and you can bet they will not hesitate to hand over any of your email address and or identities.
