Would the guys and gals who have recently interviewed mind posting their experience/qualifications?

Someone told me they heard former poolies would be getting class dates (no interviews?) early on, like right after returnees and flows. Has anyone heard anything about this?

I'm a 2008 NW poolie who was supposed to be in the class that was the first cancelled. Haven't been real keen on having to jump through all the hoops again (TMATW q's, etc) but being offered a class with a cursory meet and greet, PRIA and background check changes that a bit.

Thanks,
Bus
Bus,

If this is correct I don't think it's for the NWA poolies (of which I was/am one). Someone said in a previous thread of mine that there were actually DAL poolies from the last round of hiring in 2010. So, it might be possible that what you heard was correct but if so I'd assume these are the folks they are talking about. I agree with Mav on the earlier post in this thread that if they were going to just offer us a class date they would have done so in the last round of hiring...since I didn't even get a call for that round of hiring I'm not under the impression they would simply offer us a class date unless something has changed drastically.

There were Delta poolies (less than 20), but all have to do the full interview again.

I hate to say but that is really lame. If you were good enough to pass the interview in 2010 (or with NWA back in 2008) why would you not still be good now? I understand an updated background check, etc but a full interview? Really?!? Just seems like they could hire the folks that have already been deemed "worthy" and be done with it. I'm sure it would save a lot of time, $$$ and heartache for all involved. Apparently UAL thinks once you've interviewed and were good to go you are still the same person that they deemed good to go previously and are willing to bring you straight to class...not sure what DAL's hang up is on this one.

I'm doing training in ATL and while I'd rather not be specific, I did hear from 2 reliable sources that 300 is a low number for this year and they're expecting quite a lot more, well above 600 total for the next couple years. Usual caveats.

Regarding a few comments from/to NWA poolies: my experience witnessing the interview process in '10 was that NWA were at a disadvantage due to post-merger territorialism. However, I honestly doubt that will be the case this time around unless an applicant shows an attitude of entitlement or a grudge - which I doubt even more. Good luck, things are looking up (unless you read APC forums)!

Default Class dates....

FYI, my buddy just got his class date on Thursday and HR said they were finishing up calling the last of the furlough's for class dates. He is #85 and his class date is 18 Nov.
Hopefully this week the first of the emails will be sent out to non-furlough pilots.
That's is all I have. Not much but just trying to keep the information train going.
Cheers

Subjective opinion or objective data?

Objectively, weren't the qual standards different?

The new hire demographics reflected Delta was hiring more older pilots than NWA. I used "older" since some of the insecure among our ranks take offence at the other objective measurements which older pilots generally embody are used. Also, the informal forms of interview prep were working like a well oiled machine within parts of the Delta connection system.

Delta then was looking for folks who had been leaders in their professional and / or personal life. The older applicants had (generally) achieved more because they had been on the planet longer and had more time to have achieved more. It is still a good idea to have participated in charitable work, or have been selected for a leadership position in your previous work life.

Best one day resume enhancer for Delta is to participated in a charity Delta sponsors and be able to relate your experience ... Habitat for Humanity is easy to get involved in and fun.

If you were hiring pilots and had four identical candidates, but one had contributed to a charity your Company felt was a priority ... then who is the best fit for your company? We all think we should be a good pilot and that's enough, but when there are over ten thousand applications and recruiters are maybe looking at 30 a week ... just saying help yourself stand out in a good way.

Think Wilt was going to tell us that Military Applicants often have those experiences ... and he would be correct.
