I know Dr. Janus passed away a long time ago, but are interviewees still going to have to take that MNPS test and talk to a shrink during the process?

Q. Do you still beat your wife?

1. Yes
2. Not any more

How do you answer that one?? 1 or 2?
Captain Kirk would say 3.

It is a lot more than 45 minutes. Figure it starts with your history and employment records (PRIA and whatever else they might have coming from a wholly owned ... payroll records include sick leave), discussions with your Chief Pilot, who recommended the candidate and what was written. Then there is a cog test (which freaked out a candidate who hit the screen when I was there) a panel interview, an extensive personality survey and after all of that an hour or more with a psychiatrist.

Getting TPIC is something that is largely out of one's control, especially at an airline, but not getting a degree is a conscious choice.
I agree 100%. I was very frugal getting my degree from a public school, and even still I'll be paying a few hundred dollars per month for at least the next decade to pay it off. One thought that keeps me positive about the whole thing is "Well, at least I'll be eligible to work at Delta (or other top-tier airlines) one day."

If Delta drops the 4-year degree requirement I'll be one step closer to thinking higher education is a total scam. I already think it's a little scam.

Captain Kirk was given his fighting skills in a deal with the devil. As soon as the deal was done, Captain Kirk kicked the devil's butt. Since the devil completely appreciates irony, he and Captain Kirk play poker together each Wednesday.

If you want to know which species Captain Kirk doesn't like, just check the list of species which have recently gone extinct.

First there was PFJ (pay for job) and PFI (pay for interview). Now there's CFI..... Concessions for interviews.

Same here, sad but true.

Just proves that any a-hole can put on the "45 minute show".

Depends on how you quantify/measure it. Ask ANY pilot that went over on the COEX/CAL FTA and got to keep their RJ CA pay till the CAL pay caught up, as well as pass travel date. And when the crap hit the fan (9/11), they got to "flow down" back into the RJ CA seat, with their ORIGINAL seniority and pay, till the recall BACK to CAL came.

Sadly, some of them STILL b1chted about it. Must have been rough to get furloughed, go BACK to a better schedule than that of a legacy new hire, at the SAME pay rate, never mind STILL having a job with health insurance whilst many of your peers were on the street with NONE of that at other places.

I'd say that FTA worked out pretty good for them.

The one thing that generally connects Delta pilots is a sense of humor, if you don't believe that, check the other forums.......

Not with the right kind of questioning. My VX interview ended with a "If we could only hire one pilot today out of you 12, why should it be you."

Arrogant pilots will usually screw up that question.

We are entirely serious.

I saw Captain Kirk roundhouse kick a fusion reactor and restore warp drive. Chuck Norris is getting a little soft in comparison.
