I have personally seen an award where I had over 70 pilots senior to me 1st choice. Bid what you want and be ready to fly it. If you don't really want it don't bid it. There is a lot of movement taking place and you might be well served by waiting a bit for what you really want.
Also in there are the guys that are already in that category and want to stay there if at X% vs being awarded one of their other AEs. ATL7ERB has had unfilled spots the last 3 bids and there are about 170 guys senior to me with bids in.

It'd be nice if that function were more usable , but it's not.

In most cases I agree with you here, but what guys are saying about the 717 is that very junior guys (14 Hires) have very few guys senior to them bidding the category. In this case the feature is very useful in predicting how junior that seat will go. I'm an 07 hire and when the bid closed there were only 30 guys senior to me total bidding the category. I'd almost bet money we see 07 hires awarded 717A in NYC.

As to my advice to Ponce. He and I are very good friends, my message to him is the strongest encouragement I could've given him on a public board and he knows it. I also called him immediately after I found out via this board to offer my congratulations and offered to help in anyway possible. I see how somebody who doesn't share our background could see my message differently, but to quote our administration, this is a phony scandal, there's nothing to see here.
Don't know if I know Mike or Ponce at all, but I agree, Mike's post was a paraphrase of Alan Shepard's prayer and the equivalent of "break a leg" in the fighter world.

No dog in the fight as to Buzz accepting Mike's apology either, but it looks pretty genuine.

Oh, and Ponce, check your PMs. Trying to pass some gouge to you, but can't do it if you stay NORDO.

I'll ask the generic hiring question at risk someone has answered it a hundred times but is there any chance to get an interview with Delta in the next 5 years with no mgt jobs, military time or PIC time?

What about part 61 checkride busts. I have one bust way back in the day but a clean 121 record..

Thanks

That's the way I read it also. Military version of "good luck".

^^^This! I received many "Don't eft it up" or "Don't suck," from my squadron mates before going into my interview.

Insert lighten up francis pic here...

Very curious indeed. Hopefully we find out today, and yes, most of my comments applied to other than new-hire.

It definitely helps to add as much to your resume as possible. Any training failures I would definitely list. I believe the wording of the question asks "have you EVER failed ANY PORTION of training, civilian or military."

Has anyone gotten an interview recently that has failed a 121 checkride or more importantly a captain upgrade checkride?

What I was asking was simple. Delta keeps track of your applications. It's as simple as saving prior applications on the computer and any changes will be flagged. If they see you changed from having a warning letter on your app, to not admitting to it on your app, they will draw a flag. Once you submit something, be prepared to answer for any changes if you get an interview. Maybe they will understand and look it over, or maybe they won't. Full disclosure is best.
