I was straight 91 corporate with previous 135 freight. There were 4 of us out of 59 in my late '16 class. I know of lots of other corporate guys making the jump but I'm unsure how prevalent it is at Delta.

Default Age cut off.....?

Question for the masses here.

I've got a buddy trying to get on with Delta (and apps in elsewhere...but really wants Delta). Former Navy fighter guy who now flies contract work for the DoD. Current and qualified on 2 different aircraft with 150+ hours in the past year. Class 1. ATP. Etc...etc... etc... I've written him a rec and sent the email into Delta Hiring. Had the app in for about a year. Crickets so far...

I'm wondering if one thing that may be working against him is his age. He's in his early 50's.

Anybody know if Delta has a cutoff for age? Or if it is hurting him to the point where he's just wasting his time trying to get on with a major airline at this point.

Thanks for the info in advance.

I have not heard of any age cutoff and have seen new hires on the seniority list this year in their early 50s so that’s not why your friend isn’t getting the invite.

They cannot discriminate against him for age. NWA and probably some others had EEOC judgements against them quite some time ago and no airline can discriminate for age (among other things)

Have there been any pilots from LCCs in the last few classes?

Quick question for you folks,

I just received an email from Delta Selection Team asking me to go ahead and submit my college degrees for validation with the appropriate national evaluating authorities, since my degrees were obtained outside of the United States.

My entire college history has been listed for years (literally) on airlineapps, I haven’t heard anything about them up until now.

Has any of you received such an email before or have found yourself in a similar situation? Is this the famous “fix it” email that I’ve heard about?

Thanks in advance.

That’s not the standard fix it email. But does sound promising!

A 62 year old was hired in 2015. Tell him to apply.

Exactly. All the majors have someone 55-62 in every class or two, based on the reports here. Early 50s is common. Average age seems to be running early 40s.

This is unscientific based upon what is posted here.
