As for “earning” that job at Delta, I can rattle off 30 guys that got hired that couldn’t fly their way out of a paper bag and 50 that it’s absolutely mind boggling that someone wouldn’t want them flying for their airline.

Still doesn’t change the fact that it’s a funny a$$ story though!
It really makes you wonder why DL hired some of these clowns. Straight out frightening. Sneaked in.

Yeah, upon thinking about it more, if they added the 3 hours on you during the 5-day trip, then it becomes part of the 25 hours. Just like if you did a gate return or diverted, those hours would count towards the 25 as well. Sorry man.

They need to hire more schedulers. I was on hold over 2 hours and couldn’t reach anyone. After an hour 45 someone picked up and said please hold. I would have stayed on the line but I had to fly

Pretty sure this is right. The 25 hour trip rig just gets you up to 25 if you don't get there on your own. As it was explained to me.

Hi peeps,

I have been reading this thread for the last few days and wanted to see if I could get verification on something I read a few pages back. I can't find it now, but someone mentioned that some new hires were getting awarded CA positions before out of initial training. From an inside source, I was told they were not aware of this happening. Also was told your company has a required number of hours to be flown on property before you can be eligible for the left seat.

Can anybody verify the time frame of the quickest recent upgrades and what base/equipment were awarded.

Thanks!

Minimum company hours is nominally 1000, but has been waived down to almost nothing for every vacancy announcement in recent memory. Most junior CA on the list is a November hire. And we just got a memo reiterating how hiring will focus on people with the 1000 legal time, allowing a quick upgrade.

Thanks for the info! So would the November hire be finished with initial training yet? Was also told Endeavor's initial was something like 70-90 days... Do they complete initial FO training through IOE or transition to upgrade somewhere before FO IOE? Sorry for all the questions, this just a whole new world from when I was flying the regionals, and I'm really contemplating returning to a US airline for more PIC time. Therefore, I'm really trying to get a better picture of how these "quick upgrades" are taking place.

Cheers

Training is roughly 90 days. Then OE of 25 hours, more it needed. Then consolidation of knowledge (100 hours). After that, you are complete. No training elsewhere, except that we do have a sim in PHX.

You can get awarded CA in training of the company needs you. And they have the past two awards. Not quite street CA, but close enough that you couldn’t tell the difference.

They are right. You dont go over 25, unless you actually do. 25 hour is pay protection for a 5 day trip, not credit. If you get what I mean.

Is anyone else getting repeat phone calls from scheduling? The last few times they have called me to assign me flying I’ll get a call and not two minutes later someone else will call again and tell me the same info. Feels like the guys from super troopers are doing the repeater with me lol
