Nobody is getting fired or a talking to for not doing what most people here define as “customer service,” which is likely limited to doing gate announcements and standing in the galley during the welcome PA.

When merited, gate announcements are probably helpful and take about 5 seconds of our time. Who cares. People on this forum seem to think that we are riddled with extraneous customer service responsibilities. I disagree.

What's the cost of mis-connecting 10 passengers because you flew 250 knots like SkyPest versus burning some extra fuel to get there early.

Maybe the landing window non-sense makes sense at a gate constricted airport like LGA or JFK, but in ATL, I'm not so sure.

The whole point of the landing window is to avoid misconnecting people. If you’re flying slow it’s because you’re early, so maybe you slow down and land 15 minutes early instead of 35 minutes early. Nobody with a legal connection time should misconnect. That also means flying faster when you’re behind schedule to help out misconnects.

Are there really that many crooked name tags out there?

I think mine are straight... but you're going to give me a complex... "Sorry I was late for the van, I was trying to make sure my name tag was straight"

How much customer service do you see the mainline guys doing? not that much I can tell you that.

Because doing 250 down the KORRY4 is going to go so well. These airports that the targeted landing window is going to make a difference at, are so ATC speed controlled that it isn’t going to be possible to fly a speed.

It's more like, you get to the store during normal business hours, and the employee won't come out of the break room.

Thanjd for reminding me. I lost my name tag after I got the sweater last fall.
