My fav is making a PA and having "Selcal, Selcal" blaring in the background.
The ACARS messages are not only a nuisance but a distraction from our primary task of just flying the aircraft. It will stop when there is an incident or accident. The FAA should stop these things but maybe they don't know. This is in addition to the "Creative" way they are getting around the FARs with regards to scheduling and this latest missive about what constitutes flight time.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It was worse when we were getting “Delayed 20 minutes, please make a PA” ACARS messages on the take off roll. That was dangerous. Thankfully they fixed those. The 10 minute messages are just a delightful nuisance in comparison.

What’s your beef with the crew room memo? The policy is at least a year and a half old (maybe more), so if they put it out again, then it’s probably because crews are violating the policy. When people screw up, something has to be done about it.
Follow the rules on not sleeping there after hours, and you will have nothing to worry about. If people cannot budget for a hotel room every now and again, then perhaps they are in the wrong profession. It’s not like we are making $20K anymore.

Maybe it's me but was that recent memo about crew rooms a little off putting??? Threatening the very crews that fly in and out of places like NYC during snow/rain/Irops??? I didn't think it was really necessary. Never mind the crew room at LGA isn't the nicest in the world. You can sit in it for eight hours on RR just don't be in there at night!
Wear your hat, make your PAs, be on time, go fast, send your delay codes, but if we find you in the crew room at night you may be fired!
Probably me but the culture here, has it in fact changed?

Nobody is getting lectured for not wearing the hat or making gate PAs.
BUT - this latest memo about receiving yet another nuisance ACARS message is cringeworthy. I feel like I can barely even talk on the radio without CELL CALL blaring in the background with nuisance messages. My personal favorite is the message about how it’s D-10 and we should start the APU. Well, what if the APU is deferred? What ever shall we do? And when it isn’t, I am quite certain that it has already been started so the cabin isn’t 33C.

My issue
We are adults and spend a lot of time in a 500 MPH tiny tube and this year, some of the worst weather in a long time. There is no reason to talk to us that way and treat us like children. The culture was suppose to improve with the recent contract but there it is again, that threatening tone. It's embarrassing and quite frankly pathetic. Not everyone is in their 20s and has to be spanked all the time to remind us who's the boss. Also, not everyone, THE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS for instance, make a ton of money to find expensive rooms in NY especially during IROPS. I am not saying it's ok to stay in the crew room overnight, I am saying there is no need to hit us over the head when all are all working really hard especially in the new co-base of NYC. Btw, I hope the flight attendants are smart enough not to sign a co-base agreement.

ROTATE. PLEASE CONFIRM YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS MESSAGE
There's a difference between finishing super late in NYC and trying to catch the 6am home, and using the rest room as a crashpad. I'd imagine part of it is liability and safety of having people in overnight, but there's a balance.
Cobase isn't the problem, schedulers are. Only airline with an NYC hub that doesn't have a cobase is republic and soon to be Skywest. Now if they try to add EWR into the mix...

Your moniker makes you sound like a teenager. Obviously people aren’t obeying the rules and other crew members are complaining. That’s their right.

Didn't one of the Colgan accident pilots spend the night before the event in the crewroom?
In addition to not wanting it to be a hotel, I would think there is also probably a legal reason not to have crew over-nighting in company break rooms. That said, I was non-reving through JFK a while back, and got stuck there pretty late, so I wound up spending the night in the crewroom waiting for a 6am flight. **** happens.
