We are sitting in class in MSP and just got an email from management saying that they are in talks about retention, quality of life, and operation efficiency.

Hopefully good things will come!

The same thing happened back in September and the talks fell apart within a few days because the company wanted the pilots to give things up in exchange for retention bonuses. Staffing the airline is wholly the companies problem to solve and the pilots position has only gotten stronger in past few months as more are leaving than they can get into classes. Hopefully being unable to the staff the airline has made them realize they have to do something significant but I’m not holding my breath.

Yea. I actually agree. I thought halfway through they were just going to beg people to stay. They better figure it out fast.

I agree with that too. They better come up with something quick and not drag this out over the next few months....which I wouldn't be surprised to see.

This will be interesting, the only real efficiency increase they get contractual relief on, is the contactability issue, but if they do, that will only speed up attrition.

If they want to improve efficiency and QOL, let’s get 4 days off between trips, and 5 hour min day. And green reserve grids.

Rigs would probably help a lot.

They want and need off seniority list instructors. Pilots will be on and off property too quickly to even become an APD. They will get that and direct contact. Direct contact will not be as big of a deal as everyone thinks. We basically are that on duty now anyways. It just is a reach around way of doing it.

We will see pay increases, schedule improvements, and retention bonus money thrown at us for each career step. Ie upgrade, flow, etc. I'd expect to see quarterly bonuses too. This will all happen quick followed by Delta new contract which will eventually absorb at least 50% of us by the end of 2022.

Direct contact is an extremely big deal. You think they’re messing with peoples schedules now. If you give that up, this place will get ugly fast. Once you open Pandora’s box you won’t be able to close it.
