It wouldn't surprise me in the least if Envoy itself got sold to Republic in the next 3-5 years.

Eh. That would upset the whipsaw. In 18 months things will settle down to a new normal.

Not if the majors keep hiring like they are. Once the economic rug gets pulled and the great depression starts in earnest you may be right.

The Great Depression? You mean as bad or worse than the 1929-1939 Great Depression, with 30% unemployment rates and 25% deflation? I don’t think so. Recession, may be likely. Great Depression, no.

My parents live through it, as young adults. If you have not heard first hand, you have no idea how bad it was.

That’s my point. The majors, or anyone else, WON’T keep hiring like they are. Another 16-18 months like this. Everyone is still catching up with mandatory retirements, some early retirements but mostly not hiring for a year and a half. The “regular” hiring, for continuing mandatory retirements plus modest growth will continue but once caught up with the Covid slump, this wave WILL subside.

This was posted last week, obviously, but looks like what we discussed is coming to pass. 15% is a lot... damn. I really hope things settle down soon and it becomes at least somewhat possible to predict what to expect at any given company, for at least a year or two.

If you look around, those attrition numbers are about the same as everyone else. The difference is Envoy has a specific plane, with a different type rating (145) verses some other companies that are parking, or already have parked, (CRJ-200), which affects the training footprint.

The problem for Envoy is losing flying, but until the last 145 goes away, which will still likely be years away, the airline will still have the inefficiency of two types. That will continue to affect training inefficiencies and line inefficiencies as well.

Hopefully not another even smaller class down to single digits this time.
