Yes, I read the book before posting, but I also read the op-spec and read the Jepp definition of ‘adequate visual reference’ and it seemed that ‘AVR’ is used in lieu of standard take off minimums for certain operators. It doesn’t appear to be a true ‘minimum.’ That’s why in DFW it still lists ‘AVR’ of 16 or 1/4, but also 5/5/5 for so equipped runways.
I will reach out to someone in training, as I could not find a field that had standard takeoff minus’s (and should be reducible from the OpSpec), but also did not have ‘AVR’ of 16 or 1/4.
Thanks!!

Am I overthinking this? If the chart has a published minimum you use that...you can’t lower the minimum below what is published on the chart. If the airport has no published take off minima or just the STD and it is less then you can use the chart in FM-1...that’s my take on it

I was not trying to be a "know it all", I just wanted to make sure I understood this correctly. I took off yesterday with 5000RVR, so no big deal - but it triggered my own confusion with standard takeoff minimums, and lower than standard minimums. My confusion was with the 'Adequate Vis Ref' box, I was uncertain whether or not this was true 'minimums.' I understand this much better now!
Thanks again, and have a good weekend.

If you are on RAP 2 and screw scheduling calls you to confirm a RAP 1 that they put on your schedule that you did not proffer for, can you get a missed assignment if you don’t return the phone call within 15 mins? Thanks

Grey area; the union talked about this in one of their reserve emails recently. Crew scheduling sees it as a MA, the union does not. Good luck.

It's been a while since I was on reserve so maybe I'm not reading this right, but where's your 10 hours rest? Are they saying that if you don't get an assignment on your RAP 2 today that you had 10 hours rest leading to your RAP 1 tomorrow?

They normally release you to rest from RAP2 when they call.

Call them back and tell them you do not consent to the early release. It's in the contract that you need to consent to it. I had a similar question a while back and asked the union guru. That's what he told me.
