This is a transactional relationship. They don’t give out money for being a good boy.

I don't really get bothered by what other people chose to do for the most part but I do notice what they are doing. The uniformed pilots wearing earbuds walking around the terminal look like some form of nerds pimping it up to me. If that's how you identify yourself... you be you by all means.
That said, there is a practical annoyance to it. I don't know if you're listening to music and will not hear what I say to you. I don't know if you're listening to a phone call and it's me being rude interrupting if I speak to you. That being said, if you've carved out a private spot to sit and do this like sitting in the back with pax or in the cockpit at the gate on your own or some corner in the terminal or crew room, fine. I can assume you're on your own time enjoying whatever those nerdy pimped up earpods give you. But walking through the terminal with them in or even in a group of people actively talking... come on, really?

I have been thinking about this since my captain IOE, but still a bit confused.
Lets talk about KCMI...
Rwy 32R has STD takeoff minimums or 50 or 1, and 'Adequate Vis Ref' of 16 or 1/4
Runway 32R, has HIRL, and RCLM
I know I can not take off at 6/6/6, but what I am trying to figure out is if my minimums are 16/16/16 (Adequate Vis. Ref) or if they are 10/10/10 (Reduced std Minimums)
Thanks!

“If a takeoff minimum is published, use of these lower than standard take off minima is prohibited.”
