This career is what you make of it. I was ready for a new adventure and I am glad I made the leap. I had a great time with MQ, but it was time to go add some more experience to my resume and learn something new in the process. For me, the value of experience outweighed the value of flow.
It must be coming up on about a year since the last MQ pilot flowed to AA. Are there any indications on when the valve might open again?

Not sure if you missed it but when you interview at Envoy, you are interviewing for American. It's one interview for a lifetime career. No need to go to career fairs or keep the resume polished. Your career is set. For life. Republic, Skywest, etc. are simply contractors. Thus the need for the Envoy interview to be upped to AA standards. After all, you are hiring an AA pilot. A Republic pilot for example is subject to the whims of their company's contract with whatever carrier. A recent example is them getting the boot at MIA. It was a long time coming but as the 175 Envoy fleet builds, it was always in the cards as AA wanted Envoy to handle many of these premium routes. In the not too distant future, you'll likely see Envoy as the behemoth carrier with a fleet of 250 plus 175s.

Soooo, what delusion do you have next for me to debunk? Oh, Covid would "burn out" in the summer heat? Travel would be back in early 2021? Flow would pick back up? That you are not a moron?

THKooj, after four years with MQ I left for an ACMI a few months ago and have been really enjoying it. I fly a wide body aircraft, make more money at first year rates, have great schedules, and have exciting overnights. No skeletons in the closet, undergraduate degree, clean training history, and even was a check airman. I wouldn't go as far to say that "no one would leave" for an ACMI when it is actually a pretty awesome opportunity.

AA has some low standards then. My interview was literally a 5 min HR discussion and an approach chart brief for the tech portion. Thats it, done, hired. Hell at least Skywest required me to discuss a little bit of aerodynamic theory and a mock emergency. Was offered a job there, but Envoy made more sense from a base standpoint.
