Such a rosy picture being painted it makes a guy coming into the industry really upbeat about the future.
I remember all the struggles from 20 years ago and think how things are so different in a lot of regards from back then. But then the same disdain for the job remains, which is unfortunate. Here's hoping we all make it. Now that I'm coming onboard I can only say thank God for happy hours!

Several FOs who have moved on say they wished they had gone corporate or just done the regionals for a year or two and move on to cargo - many of their friends did and are in the same spot or better than they are now.

The same as mainline pilots. Whoever checks I for their flight first has the higher priority. Unless it is for the Jumpseat on AA metal, then an AA pilot would take precedence over you. Just the same as you would take precedence over a mainline jumpseater on your own metal. Same goes for all 3 AAG wholly owned regionals.

D1 is highest priority non-rev, we get 6 per year for "really need to get on" type of standby travel, most people save these for vacations. Normal employee travel is D2 for yourself and spouse/companion, then D2P for parents not traveling with you, then D3 is buddy passes. Lowest priority. Then other airline employee's.
