For the time being, if you choose an ORD 700 (and I believe 145 as well, but I don't know for sure) you get an extra 5k on your sign-on bonus (total 20k). And, for what it's worth to your situation, the 175 has a pretty big training backlog right now, so you will likely have a gap after indoc. Some like that, some don't. Obviously there are many other factors to consider, but those are two that will affect you right off the bat.
Thank you. Recruiters have contacted me a couple of times. Going to submit my app soon, but this forum has me a little concerned after what I've read. then again all the other threads have the same kind of statements regarding other regionals.

No problem. Just make the best decision you can with the information you have at hand, that's all we can do. Only time will tell if we get it right...

Exactly my point. It's the same tactic.
"Come one, come all. Upgrade in 1 year. We have kittens and puppies. With plush crew rooms and travel to the most exotic destinations for free with your friends. We have this, we have that, all while wearing a pilot hat. Why would you choose the other guy?"
I was told by a Mesa recruiter during the interview that I would upgrade after 1 year in 2006. After I signed the training contract and received company materials they had an experience requirement of at least 2000hrs in type to upgrade. Recruiter forgot to tell me that bit of useful information. Also, they didn't tell me the stories of crews sleeping on the RON aircraft during reduced rest. No block or better pay. Work rules that do not incorporate a safe operation. I could go on. After my one year was up, I bolted. Here's the kicker, my last paycheck was withheld!
Guess what ladys and germs. Envoy skimps on pay. Doesn't follow the contract. Wants us to make safe decisions for THEIR benefit. Doesn't honor the fatigue reporting system. How are those crew rooms, oh, and where's that upgrade time?
It's all the same. Brand X, Brand Y. It's still laundry detergent. Don't let the recruiters snag you on hopes and dreams. Because after about a year, you'll realize the truth about what it's really like compared to what the recruiters say.

Envoy is receiving new state of the art Embraer 175 aircraft each month and is being positioned to be the premiere regional carrier in the U.S. Envoy also flies the CRJ-700 and the Embraer 145. As an all jet carrier, you will not have to fly a turboprop here. You stand a very good chance to be flying the 175 if you can get in very soon.
Things are looking up at Envoy. Management just announced that all of the Embraer 145 aircraft currently flying at Expressjet will be returned to Envoy in early 2017. This means more flying, more new hires and more Captain slots. We also are looking at Embraer 175 options. American would like to place up to 90 additional 175's at Envoy. You can imagine what this would do to your seniority.
As you may be aware, Envoy has the most robust flow program in the industry. Essentially, we are hiring you as an AA pilot from day one. You can expect to work for Envoy for about 6 years before transitioning over to American Airlines. This is a no interview, no medical flow. Essentially, you are transferring from one department to another.
Disregard any negativity you see here about Envoy. It's from disgruntled ex employees and others who don't even work here and are likely working at a regional with no flow and no future. Envoy has a very bright future and the lifestyle here is similar to one that you would transition into at AA.

Let me encourage you to submit your app as soon as possible. Envoy is hiring in large numbers right now and you'll do much better to get in early and have people coming in behind you.

This is why people here feel a need to call you out on everything you say. The statement in bold is BS. It isn't "essentially" a department transfer. If it was you would receive longevity credit for your time served at Envoy for vacation. Until the day you step foot on property at AA your not an AA pilot, just stop with this nonsense.
Do you have to pass a medical? No.
Do you have to go through any kind of special selection board? No.
You simply transfer over from Envoy to AA. Spin it however you want. You fly your last trip with Envoy one week, and are sitting in class at AA the next...and the only thing you had to do to get there was keep breathing and not get fired. And while vacation doesn't transfer after the 824 group, your company longevity does for retirement purposes among others.
