And this is the first I heard of an additional $2k bonus. Is this added to whichever aircraft choice you make, or a separate bonus with a separate contract?

This is completely untrue. Every bit of this is false. Either you are trolling or your buddy purposely bids reserve and purposely didn't bid DFW. The junior mans might be a little excessive for FOs in ORD but I wouldn't know I'm in DFW.

We also have 50 FOs in training right now for ORD 145. So reserve time in ORD will drop as well as DFW.

I just did some quick math after reading the announcement to get the "$2K" number. New hire bonus is:

$17K for everyone
$22,100 if you take a legacy airframe (E145/C700)

No idea. I emailed recruiting and they said 11/21 class gets the new bonus. I have no idea about anyone else, I don't want to give any false information

Just talked to ALPA. SOL on getting the extra $2,000 if you were in a earlier class.
Even the 11/07 class.

9 145 reserves available for the rest of today in Dallas. Tommorow is 10 so far. It's also the most beautiful clear blue day today. Not a cloud in the sky

The 8 days he is talking about is referring to the hard limit. They can junior man you down to 8 days off. However any day below 11 a return day is owed by the end of the following month or a 3.9 hour payout if 60k isn't enough for you. As new hires come online the junior man's will drop. They got behind the power curve before offering the bonuses so it is a bit painful now, but it will get better. Everyone knew this was going to happen except the old American President or he just didn't care.

Those 50 FOs is pretty close to the amount of reserves in ORD on the 145 so reserve time could drop to something like 3 or 4 months. It could be quicker because senior FOs will continue to bid reserve because it's much less work than line flying.

So people worried about reserve time shouldn't be too concerned in my opinion. Also there's about 60 145 ORD FOs going for upgrade or moving to NYC within the next few months so the whole current reserve list would have the opportunity to hold a line if they want.
