I can deal with constant reserve while being at home (AKA Dallas) but if I am stuck in LGA, that’s a different story.
How long do you guys realistically think it would take to get back to DFW? I honesty could care less what I fly, just looking for QOL.
Heck I wouldn’t be surprised if I don’t finish training until
Mid next year!

I would just forget about DFW and focus on your flying. As it's been said, most people will not last with these schedules more than a year. Ive personally seen it, especially left seat. If you came to envoy for the right reasons, flow, etc you should be able to work it out. I've commuted before on min days off and it's not very pretty, be prepared to spend 30 to 48 hours at home before going back out again. I came for the flow, the way I look at it a few years of trench work is ok compared to a possible long career at AA.
Not everyone is going to have this issue because of seniority or inability to hold captain, so it mostly applies to commuting to reserve for a long stretch. It really can become a question of how much can you really sacrifice or endure to have a shot at the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. It all depends on the individual.

The problem is not everyone's family will see it the same way. I commute to rsv and am lucky to have a flexible commute, and even at that it's freaking rough on myself and my family. Someone with less flexible options or a SO who doesn't quite understand the airline business is in for a very rough ride. The acronym "AIDS" didn't come about for no reason...!

This guy understands^^^ my wife and 9 month old would become very familiar with AIDS...

I would be driving to LGA from about 1:45-2:00 away. I can put up with reserve for the left seat time, but if I have to do that drive daily for airport reserve I will go broke ($44 round trip in tolls alone!).
Are the airport rsvs being utilized and sent on overnights? That's the only way I could make this work. If it's sitting at the airport all day for the next 18 months... well, looking at other options.

I am as well.. if I was single this would be a different story! Heck piedmont has instant upgrades as well, although you will be PHL (or whatever) based at least you won’t be on rsrv..

Biggest problem there is the 6+ month training backlog on FO guarantee. Not exactly the best financial position.
