Delta only wants 3 regional partners. American only wants 6. United has not yet said how many they want. I’m guessing somewhere between 3 and 6.
They also don’t like CRJs.
IF they want a wholly owned like their competitors, I’m guessing that wholly owned will fly E175s.
Skywest, Republic and Mesa have substantial contracts with Delta and/or AA. I don’t see UA buying any of them.
The wildcard IMO is what happens with flying 175s at mainline. I don’t see it happening because they could fly E2s in house, which would be more efficient and bringing E1s on top of that means a whole new engine type and a ton of different parts. Plus differences training. So we’ll see.....

When has that been a reason to not be awarded flying?? Republic was sued by DAL for not being able to fulfill their contract due to staffing and had to declare bankruptcy. Didn’t hurt them at all. CommuteAir still gets flying after the staffing issues they had. Bottom line is who is the cheapest.

Mesa has a cozy enough relationship that they have a CPP and Republic doesn’t. If UAL thought or wanted Mesa to fail, they would have skipped doing the CPP.
