What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?

Lord have mercy, check Brads update. The Embraer's sales team is flying in the E175 to ATL on the 15th to show it off to the company, test flight and all. Employees invited. The picture is starting to get clearer with the large rj rates for l-xjt
One rumor I did hear was Republic got the first round of Eagle flying because AMR wanted the E175 only, and it was impossible for SKYW to meet the time frame with a new fleet type.

Most regionals would buy 18-wheelers if that's what Delta told them to do.

Let me get this straight - Embraer is coming to ATL to sell ASA the E175? Why would they include ASA, since buying them without Delta telling ASA to do so would never happen? Seems like a waste of time and money for Embraer, spending their time with someone (in this case, company) who isn't the decision maker.

Same thing. Why would Embraer court ASA when it should be courting UAL? They decide what regional feed exists, not ASA.

UAL could give ASA/Xjet 76 seat flying and I'm pretty sure ASA/Xjet could pick which one to fly given they make the agreement with UAL.

Yay! Lets shut down hiring in time for summer when we are understaffed during the winter...things CANT go wrong with this plan!

Can you elaborate? I was just informed that everyone in the pool needs ATP minimums before starting a class. Does anyone know if or when the ATP exemptions of 1000tt/750tt for aviation universities and military will become official? I understand the law is passed and begins in August, and it's up to the FAA to establish the criteria for an ATP. It's February and I haven't heard a thing.

"Irons in the fire" I'll believe. Hopefully that's always the case. I know there's RFPs for AE, UAX, and USAir out there. I do doubt that we're competitive enough to get any of them. GoJets, Compass, Mesa, etc... are so much cheaper and as we all know, money rules... not results.
Hiring should pick up soon with people leaving left and right. The attrition might account for the 10ish planes leaving the DCI system, but it's gonna do nothing for the new rest rules next winter. I would guess no less than 50% of the L-ASA group has resumes out somewhere if not everywhere. This summer is going to be a gigantic Cluster F*@$

Just curious, all this attrition. Where is everyone going and why? Seems like the only places hiring are JB and USAir. So you go back to an RJ and be an FO again for many years getting paid less than XJT. And most have to commute. I can't see the appeal.
I know United may hire one day. Not currently and they have a bunch of furloughs to recall. Same with American. And forget about Delta. I have talked to a couple of people that went to JB blue no more than the usual movement. Where else is really worth jumping ship to only sit at the bottom of another huge shaky seniority list?
Is this just speculation of movement? My number really hasn't changed much at all. Anyone in ATL on the 7/9 can see there are more pairings. But the block hours are actually less than last year. Notice they have no 4 days during the week. All 4 days touch weekends. And only about a hundred 3 days or so. It's all day lines and 2 days. I too was wondering why the number of pairings went up so much. And the ATL 200 is dwindling too. Yes there are some rest rule changes coming up. That proposes a challenge. That is the only staffing challenge I see.
With that being said, I'm sure there is less of a staffing problem than everyone thinks. They got it figured out. So long as we all sit here and let them do what they want, they will always have it figured out.
Thank you sir may I have another.

United is hiring all those that were in the pool before the last furlough. Several captain friends of mine have gotten class dates. USAir is hiring, JetBlue has been hiring, Virgin is hiring, Allegiant has been hiring, FedEx is hiring a trickle, Alaska just opened another window, some are jumping to corporate or fractional, we've fired a few for some reason or another, AA is rumored to hire this summer and Delta next winter. Atlas, Emirates, and Fly Dubai have also hired from our group.
There's movement, and lots more coming. That being said, I don't kid myself for a second that they'll appropriately staff us or look ahead to the attrition or rest rules next winter. Hold onto your butt, it's gonna be rough

As far a where everyone has been going recently, JetBlue and Spirit have taken quite a few. All the Captains that where ex TWA AMR furloughs have left to go back to AMR. UAL has taken many of our Captains who were hired years ago but had their class cancelled or put in a pool. Lastly several Captains and FOs have left to go to Airways, which may turn out to be a brilliant move. Airways retires 50% of their current seniority list in 2020
Now we have news that UAL is hiring, many predict AMR to hire off the street starting this summer, and then Delta this fall for 2014 classes. The flood has begun!
As far as your "back to FO for many years getting paid less than XJT" quote, have you taken a look at the Airways MOU payrates? If your are hired today at Airways you will make $121 an hr on 3rd year pay as a lineholder A320 FO
Food for thought
