Would anybody be so kind as to explain what all this means to a new guy?

It is very hard to explain on a message board such as this; especially if you are new to a seniority based bidding system. Once you become a line holder and have to worry about such questions; PM me and I will do my best to explain. Globalization is basically the rounding out of a seniority based system in order to cover the least desirable trips. "Globalizing" stands for a sphere like a globe. It is "bad" when you are a junior bidder.

The key card thing really isn't a big deal. I've had a lot of captains and even flight attendants fill it out! I get a little annoyed every time a captain says "you call the hotel yet?" use your own damn phone, I have a walk around to do never mind cleaning up the cockpit and packing up.
As for the hotel sign in sheet, yeah, I guess it's an ASA thing. I did it for 6 years as an FO. I didn't like it. And yes, if someone whipped a clipboard at me, I whipped it back harder. But usually, I just filled it out if the crew were polite about it. Now that I'm CA, I never "expect" them to do it, and some don't. I always thank them when they do.

Unstacking on the 2nd because DAL started their Spring Schedule on 3/1 and many flights shifted. For example, my carry over trip had me flying 1 leg home on 3/1, and now it's been changed to deadhead on the same flight on Pinchanickel. On 3/2, we pick up tons of new flights we didn't previously do, and they all start the same day. This also accounts for the huge number of weekend 4 days. 3/2 is a Saturday, and many many trips start that day. This is a scheduling quirk that happens 4 times a year when DAL tosses their schedule and reshuffles all the DCI flying.

Isn't deadhead supposed to be block or better on company airplanes on the CRJ side? Section 8 says scheduled, but I swear I heard it's block or better as long as you're on company airplane. I'm can't find it in 100s of MOUs. Does anyone know where it is in the contract?
