I was up talking to the union today and asked about the staffing issues. They said it's a combo of the last of the crew transitions from the last bid and that Delta pulled the carpet out from beneath them. Something about Delta temporarily changing a huge number of block hours requiring an impossible plan for staffing. Had something to do with all that unstacking I guess. Who knows though.....
As far as that bucket goes apparently there are a bunch of reserves available but aren't showing in the bucket. I had to call in sick the other day and there were zero guys in the bucket. They had no problem finding a reserve guy to do it and he just came off days off. Guess they are hiding them somewhere.

Afterburn81 is correct. Just this weekend/first week is tough on 700 staffing due to the schedule transition. FO side has about 20% reserve coverage

Just announced 48 new hires with classes starting 25 March running every 2 weeks. They also announced 40 upgrades. Great to see some movement again!

Thiese are on the ERJ side finally, add that to the CRJ classes and things here are starting to have a slight glimmer. Hope all you ERJ guys come to Newark and push me up a little higher! Welcome aboard to those who have been treading water in the pool for a while.
