So it's the sole decision of the Chairman.

Ready reserve grievance is about what constitutes an assignment, being notified and on your schedule or actually showing up to the airport as a ready pilot.

On the 5 day thing, get over it. As pilots we are always evaluatin the other options, now that we have a deadline to pull the trigger make up your minds and move on. My father was once given 20 minutes to decide whether or not to move his family 800 miles.... 5 days is pleanty.

That's all well and good for your father, but that's beside the point. We have a contract that needs to be followed. Our union has a history of letting the company get away with things. Do I need more than 5 days? No, but that does not matter. It is in the contract.

It has very little to do with making a decision within five days, everything to do with the leniency the Association grants the Company time and time again. I'm not saying the leniency shouldn't have been granted, just that it is a recurring theme.

As I could care less about 5 days, I completely agree we have a contract and it needs to be followed. It's the same principle as schedules need to be published no later than 5:00pm on the 20th. No repercussions for when they post late is complete BS. There are many things our MEC has given loose reins on and it begs the question, "where's the line?"

You start allowing crap like this 5 day deal where no one really truly cares and they start to think they can push more.

Follow the contract in detail to every letter of the sentence. NO FAVORS! Management is running an airline with thousands of employees, this isn't a mom and pop shop.

The company should ask the union to allow them to reduce the reserve callout by 50% as well. I mean, an hour should be "pleanty" enough time to get to the airport, right? The FA's used to have to do that, so pilots shouldn't have a problem either.

Ever stop to think some of your fellow pilots (unless you're management, of course) might be overseas or otherwise unplugged for a few days and won't know about the position notice until it's too late? There's a reason we negotiated these provisions into our contract, and for the union to arbitrarily give them back with nothing in return is shameful and inexcusable. As is your attitude.

Five more days won't kill the operational integrity.

Isnt that what a standing bid list is for?

I guess you failed to notice how most names appear on several lists, and there's no way to know which was their first choice. The SBL is useless. With some simple programming they could fix that, but of course, they don't care.

Trust me my friend I am quite aware, but seniority means nothing when XJT as a whole is about to have it's fleet shrunk by at least a 1/3. I'll sit at the bottom of a list at 3rd year pay (at 9E) verses sitting at the bottom stuck at 1st year pay again. At least until the dust settles.
