What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?

Yep. Poor form indeed. My classmates and I didn't know better at the time but looking back on it and knowing what I now know, I and numerous others believe this was just the company's way of filling those ERJ classes... This email was one way of either softening the blow or doing a preemptive strike depending on how you look at it. I hope this isn't a tactic in use today.
As I understand it, said executive leader and others retired within the next year.

DR did retire. It should be noted that he had no control over base assignments. He was only in charge of recruiting, and got stuck being the bearer of bad news.

I think Danny has retired 4 times now lol. And don't shoot the messenger, as said above he didn't make the decision!

I was hired in June 2014 into the ERJ. I received my class date via email. I subsequently received an email asking if I would take a different date and go to CRJ. I wanted an ERJ domicile, so I said no. It was no problem and I ended up getting the domicile I wanted. There have been several system bids in the past year that have displaced people, but I guess that's "just business" in the aviation (especially regional) world.....

I don't understand the gripe here. If you're junior at any airline, you get the short end of the stick. I think last June, the future of our airline was clearly in question. Why did you come then? Especially for a ERJ spot regardless of base? Why are guys complaining they didn't get the base or plane they wanted? You're new. Sometimes you don't get what you want. I want to fly the 777 at a major, but I can't walk in there day one and demand I fly the 777, then cry about it when I don't get it. The airline industry is not a career filled with certainty and/or stability. Especially for the junior pilots. Was this not understood before choosing this career and airline?

Edit: not to mention, I've missed countless holidays, birthdays, and other important and fun events while all this was happening. Which I'm sure will be happening again when I leave here. So believe me I understand

In regards to that letter from DR, that's almost two years old. What resulted in that period is not what happens today. The company is short on hiring on both sides, I don't see a situation like that happening anytime again.
