I was at LASA FOR 19 1/2 years, have been gone for about 3 months. The difference in the way I've been treated at mainline is crazy. I'm so glad I left it's not a good place to be anymore. When I put in my resonation, no email back no thank you no kiss my @#$%. My Schedule just showed red marks. And Finally got an email saying we show this as your last day. If y'all can you should Leave.

Obviously there have been zero attempts to better attract new hires or give us a real retention package. It makes sense. And for the non-believers, denial ain't just a river in Africa.

I used to brush stuff like this off, but this time I think it's real. A year and a half ago a management person under a NDA (who was leaving for greener pastures) told me in private conversation, the ASA side was going to get shut down and six to nine months after that, an announcement would be made that closes the ERJ side. And of course to get my stuff out and GTFO. I brushed it off at the time and said to myself things could change by the time that happens, but lo and behold here we go, ASA closing, rumors of ERJ side closing too.

Any goals I have here are short term. Maybe get another type rating to show that I am, in fact, trainable.

It is truly unfortunate that so many people became so comfortable and failed to listen to so many - especially over the past four years.

Better option than unemployment in a few months. Or, at best, a few years even closer to retirement and when it is even harder to re-train into a new career field.

This. How can you look yourself in the mirror at this point and say an LCC is not an option? Is going into debt for a year really a horrible option vs the unemployment line? I think at this point it’s just laziness and apathy that keeps people frozen where they are. A new type rating goes a long way in the eyes of a recruiter.

It’s not saying ULCC (the ones I mentioned are not LCCs), is not an option, it is weighing uprooting your family and commuting to a ULCC or staying in base with a different regional. I know it’s hard to grasp, but just flying a bigger jet is not always the objective for some. This is a dilemma I’m facing. Commute to a ULCC, or stay in base with a different regional.
