So rather than not have a reservation and potentially screw my sim partner and mess up the whole flow of things I made my own reservation.

If it somehow gets resolved I can cancel. Just frustrating to fall through the cracks and not be able to resolve it.
So... just some advice. Now that you're in the big leagues, make sure to check ALL of your hotel reservations beforehand. Whether that be for training, OE trips, line trips, or whatever.

DON"T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO CHECK AND SEE WHEN/IF YOU'RE BOOKED. Especially on a busy XMAS holiday weekend where nobody is in, and nobody can help you till Monday. And if you don't know you ask! Crew scheduling, training scheduling, check the crewconnex app, FC View, ask the front desk if they have anything for you. And if it is a true last minute disaster, then you have to expense it unfortunately.

When you fly the line, check the app, and do something sooner rather than later if you see you don't have anything! Don't wait until you're in Cancun, with no cellphone service, no hotel, no shuttle, no one speaks english, and late at night to realize "Oh sh3t, I don't have a reservation anywhere". Especially if it has been on your schedule!

Contrary to what you may think, and what you might hear on APC, this is not the only airline ever in the history of the world where flight crew hotel reservations get botched. Big boy pants, do your diligence. Good luck.

Not 100% sure how it's done for new-hires but for upgrade you're booked the number of days per "section" of training. Like you'll have a booking for 6 days to cover ground then another booking to cover FTD training and sims. They probably have a booking for you but have not told you....which sucks.

I'm sure it'll get sorted here soon, if not you'll get valuable training using the coupa app!

Welcome To Frontier!

See ya on the line!
💯WTF…
get ready to be treated like that all the time.

while taking ownership over your own accommodations is important(really shouldn’t be at a major airline or any airline for that matter when at work) , admonishing a NEW HIRE because they didn’t know all the resources at their disposal and expecting them to fend for themselves in NEW HIRE training frankly makes us look bad. Knowing your contract is essential for any pilot; expecting a new hire to fend for themself in the way you’re suggesting is truly ridiculous.

Why don’t you put on your big boy pants and hold your employer accountable rather than being condescending to a new hire? That might be a better strategy than criticizing NEW HIRES for not knowing every resource available in the book they got 2 weeks ago.

I’m sorry this happened to you, but it is par for the course as far pilots having to deal with more than they should have due to the company cheaping out in every way they can.

Frontier is NOT the big leagues, despite how you might delude yourself. The “BIG LEAGUE” pilots don’t have to deal with this, aside from occasional IROPS and certainly not in new hire training. The fact you call Frontier the “Big Leagues” speaks volumes about yourself

My “minor league” regional had very few hotel issues compared to here, so maybe you’re not babe ruth like you think

In four years at skywest and one year of flying 91K/135, I don’t recall a single hotel glitch and that includes overnights in locations we weren’t scheduled to be.

Doesn’t mean I’m not to blame in my current situation though. I’m still learning F9 operations.

Frontier outsourced hotel and transportation reservations to a 3rd party. And that 3rd party just changed. It hasn't been a very smooth transition.

swa just had hundreds. Hotels for new hires is fairly new but there is contractual language for reimbursement in situations such as yours. If you don’t get it file a dispute.

Stop defending this. Just stop. You're not doing yourself any favors.

You mean to tell me:
When you checked in the front desk didn't tell you how many days the company has you checked in for? No?
You didn't bother to ask how many days you were checked in for? No?
The company didn't tell you who schedules travel/hotel accommodations in training if there's any issues? No.
You didn't think to inquire about any of your travel plans? No.

I don't believe you.

I understand you might absolutely hate this company (which is why in the greatest hiring environment in history you choose not to leave). But this does nobody any good. You're getting ready to fly 200K LB aircraft with 240 people on board. This person might even be your FO. You're going to be responsible for all sorts of things including:
-Being in the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform
-Closing the door on time
-Fuel management
-117 requirements
-deicing
-MELs
-paperwork
-blah, blah, blah

You mean to tell me your hotel reservation, which you don't even pay for, is not even partly your responsibility to CHECK?
You know what you're right... this company is f&cked. If you can't even tell a newhire to check a reservation, we're done. Close shop.

My appologies if this has been asked already. I couldn't find a post about it. How long until health insurance kicks in and how much for a family of four? I forgot to ask about that in my interview.

Class starts end of the month. So as an example, ours was 11/28. Insurance begins day 1 of the next month, which was 12/1.

I don’t remember cost exactly. It was like $90/paycheck for my HDHP. To me not as good as I was hoping, but whatever, about $30 more than my last job for the same plan and coverage. Family was more of course. One I didn’t know (till I got on boarding paperwork a week before class) is the working spouse surcharge. Not an issue for me, at least for now, but basically you pay $$$ if your spouse is on your plan but could have purchased insurance through their employer (unemployed spouse doesn’t get the charge of course). I think $275 a month. I think family was like $250/paycheck for HDHP. PPO was about double.
