Class starts end of the month. So as an example, ours was 11/28. Insurance begins day 1 of the next month, which was 12/1.
I don’t remember cost exactly. It was like $90/paycheck for my HDHP. To me not as good as I was hoping, but whatever, about $30 more than my last job for the same plan and coverage. Family was more of course. One I didn’t know (till I got on boarding paperwork a week before class) is the working spouse surcharge. Not an issue for me, at least for now, but basically you pay $$$ if your spouse is on your plan but could have purchased insurance through their employer (unemployed spouse doesn’t get the charge of course). I think $275 a month. I think family was like $250/paycheck for HDHP. PPO was about double.

Stop defending this. Just stop. You're not doing yourself any favors.
You mean to tell me:
When you checked in the front desk didn't tell you how many days the company has you checked in for? No?
You didn't bother to ask how many days you were checked in for? No?
The company didn't tell you who schedules travel/hotel accommodations in training if there's any issues? No.
You didn't think to inquire about any of your travel plans? No.
I don't believe you.
I understand you might absolutely hate this company (which is why in the greatest hiring environment in history you choose not to leave). But this does nobody any good. You're getting ready to fly 200K LB aircraft with 240 people on board. This person might even be your FO. You're going to be responsible for all sorts of things including:
-Being in the right place, at the right time, in the right uniform
-Closing the door on time
-Fuel management
-117 requirements
-deicing
-MELs
-paperwork
-blah, blah, blah
You mean to tell me your hotel reservation, which you don't even pay for, is not even partly your responsibility to CHECK?
You know what you're right... this company is f&cked. If you can't even tell a newhire to check a reservation, we're done. Close shop.

When I talked to the right person face to face, the hotel issue got resolved and money instantly refunded back into my bank account.
I did check my reservation days ahead of time and that’s how I discovered the problem. I think the training and scheduling department is in a chaos mode at the moment.

I have an interview date after this next MTC (which I am/was planning on attending). But I got the interview invite recently. Would going to the MTC still give me brownie points for the interview itself? I would love to go but I had a trip slapped on my schedule which would make it tight but manageable. If it will give me bonus points come interview day then I will 100% make it work. TIA

Instead of wasting company $$$ to train them (which hurts everyone, including you btw), paying them to leave in 5 months, and then having to use lawyers to collect mandatory bonuses.
