One of the Assistant Chief Pilots left to take a recall, one of our ground school instructors, also a line Captain, took recall too. There are a bunch of pilots, Captains and FOs, who've taken recall, but only a few Captains I know of who flat out quit to start fresh at other airlines (FOs leaving though).

Not sure about F9 but at Spirit many CAs have left and from what I understand, our contract (work rules) are better than F9s, so I'm surprised you guys haven't had much attrition

It may be that the top 570 or so on our list have an equity stake in the company when we are IPO'd or are bought out. I'm not sure if you are eligible for that if you leave / quit. Some people have said it could be 200-400K.
Also , try interviewing when your 48 yo and have been a captain for 15 years. I'm sure your enthusiasm meter just isn't the same as when you were younger.
I think Spirit has a lot of younger captains in their 30s still and would make sense. Most of the guys leaving F9 are under 3 years and FO's hence the training contract.

If, as El Chimpo says, there are all kindsa Ca's leaving Spirit for other places, then no doubt Frontier folks are bailing. Im surprised this place isn't a revolving door. No offense, but Frontier sounds terrible to work at. So why can't I get a call then?? Patiently waiting.

I'm not even at Frontier and I know a guy that upgraded at 2 yrs & 2 months, then left 6 months later for United.

Frontier has the highest percentage of its pilots living in one base of all the "majors". The only one of the big 4 you have a shot of getting DEN based within a reasonable amount of time is WN which would entail giving up the left seat of the bus to go sling gear on a 73 for 10+ years. You'll continue to see those hired in the last three years leave, but anyone here before that is likely in it for the long haul.

And for the previous poster, it is a terrible company to work for but I wouldn't go as far to call it a terrible place to work.

There are lots more that will leave on the junior side including captains, considering this airline a stepping stone. At the end of the day you have to look out for number one. With all of these Winning memos telling us how great we're doing, then negotiation sessions claiming we're in "challenging economic conditions", Biffle is not #1 for most.

Very well said. That's the most succinct capture of this sentiment I've seen yet, and I have been heretofore unsuccessful at expressing it completely. Thank you!
