Fully commutable lines are hit or miss in Denver depending on the month. I've been here a little under two years, about half way up the seniority list in DEN, and if I work weekends I can hold mostly commutable lines. Between line bids and trading with open time I have no trouble making my schedule commutable every week. Now, if you get pickier and want weekends off, efficient trips, no red eyes, etc, that is a lot more difficult. Overall, I have decent amount of control over my schedule, but I fly red eyes and inefficient trips (low pay for 3-4 days of work) to have that flexibility

Most of the reserve lines are commutable from the start. You'll need a crash pad or some place to stay on your reserve days if you don't fly. Same as everywhere else.
Within two to three months some guys are holding long call reserve lines. 8hr and 12hr.
We have reserve shifts that are commutable in and out of the same day. Some just commutable out on last day or first day.

The suck will continue as long as the current management and ownership remain. Pay will get better eventually but will never be industry leading nor will the QoL conditions be top notch.
Only way to the promised land is via a different (better run) airline or new management.

It took a strike and may also here. But it will happen.

Info above about DEN reserve is spot on. In ORD, reserve will be much, much longer, at least as it sits now. Bottom guy there looks to be an April new hire and you'll need at least 10-15 people below you to hold a relief line. And the only way people are getting awarded it now are through just a couple of secondary awards from the vacancies. A vast majority of the new hires in the past few classes got DEN, but last vacancy had a bunch of MCO. Just hard to predict right now. Once the net growth starts kicking in and/or a new base is opened, then it will probably change things up again.

In 2006 Spirit airlines looked more promising than USAir. NKS also had better Airbus rates than most.
Alegiant wasn't a blip on the radar. In fact a year ago Alegiant had major management/pilot relation issues.
In the late 90's early 2000's Airborne Express was per hour one of the highest paying airlines on the planet with the best retirement package.
I was hired there. Ask me how that went.
This too shall pass and change.

Good info Trowserchilli and I agree completely! Things will definitely change, and Frontier most certainly can be a great place to work again in the future.
With that being said, I've got to finally ask about that screen name of yours. It's been bugging me? The thing that comes to mind whenever I see it is 'Trouser Chili'. The only thing that comes to mind when I vision "chili in someone's trousers" is not that pleasant of a thought?!?
Help me to understand!?
