I suspect they will soon drop the PIC requirement.

7000 tt
1000 tpic
4yr degree
no failures

makes more sense to wait 2 more years for someone else to call
You think who will drop the PIC requirement? F9 invited me to interview with about 2900TT and 1400 121 SIC.

Frontier has a 500 pic requirement. I assumed that meant Turbine PIC, but I guess any PIC will do.

Yea, I think that's general PIC. I have plenty of PIC from GA flying.

As a side note, I went to a Spirit job fair the following month with just shy of 3000TT and they told me to get lost.

Not quite...it’s the latter of your 1st year anniversary or your PC. Typically it ends up being your PC,tho.

Default Worth It?

Just received the offer to interview. While I know things are super volatile at F9 for the moment, I can't say I'd hate flying the bus. With that said, ultimate goal is UAL one day. Right now, I make a better than average salary working a state job flying a King Air (home every night). I know money isn't everything, but is it worth it to be super broke for a year of two building time in the bus waiting on a call from a legacy? Some close counsel of mine feel the state job hurts me for potential legacy 121 operators...

Any theoretical insight would be great!

Cheers!

Coming here because you want to fly an Airbus is a terrible idea. It’s toxic right now. Spirit, and JetBlue also fly the Airbus if you’re stuck on that for some silly reason. And your counsel tells you your state job hurts your chances at a legacy? Why?! The legacies love military pilots and that’s the ultimate state job.

Apps are in at Spirit and JB, Frontier just happened to ping first. I never said I'm in love with the bus, nor would I come specifically for that. But in light of going to a regional, I guess I was trying to gauge if the QOL/flying is better...

Look at the big picture here. Terrible Pay, pay for your own hotel during training, no per diem during training, probationary pilots being fired, training failures on the rise. The environment is not good right now and you’re risking ruining a career with a failure or termination???
If your goal is a couple years here, why not make double the money over two years at a regional? Yes. It will be double. A typical first year makes 25-30k after hotels and loss of per diem.

Not to mention our insurance, disability, and retirement are behind regionals for the first few years and you wouldn’t even be vested here. Hope you don’t have a family. Cause there is a surcharge for that.

The legacies look at F9 as a regional anyway. Go where the money and QOL is.
Not where you are scared to call in sick, your vacation gets cancelled, scared of retaliation, scared of being fired if your parent or spouse passes away.
I don’t think you’ll get sympathy from anyone at F9 if you come hear looking for a “couple years of time building”.
Besides. The recruiters read here and letting them know you won’t be staying and leaving identifying comments are probably not a good idea.
PS. You have guys that are at F9 eyeing the flows and bonuses at regionals. That should answer all you need to know.
